But not a drop to drink (unless you buy it at the site) !!

At the DMA Millennium this weekend they had the cheek to stop and search people on the way into the event to check if they had food or water. Might be OK at a concert but when you are playing a sport (Paintball) you are going to need to eat and drink we (Nexus) were taking in 20 x 1.5 litre bottles of water in per X-Ball match, not just for drinking but for clean up etc and they refused to let us in with it, saying that ANY food or water had to be bought on site. Not a huge problem if they have what you want...... but there wasn't a pie in sight. But seriously, the food was junk, Pizza, Chips, Hot Dogs, curly sandwiches, but no fruit or pasta etc etc and the cost of the food was not cheap €3 for a small slice of pizza or a small portion of chips (Over £2) and then bottles of water to pour over your head... Can I pay tons of cash for water to waste?

These events cost players a lot of money and we all need to eat, I have no problem with people making cash on supplying everyone with a service (food) but you need to be fair. I personally think getting stopped for bringing in bottled water is a joke! Make it cheaper and give us all a choice, we would have bought the water there from the site if it wasn't so expensive!

Dicky - the Token thing is an established way of enforcing security at outside events, I've been to a few big Clubs/Raves and Festivals in Europe and seen the token system in effect at all of them.

Totally agree with Ledz - it was a f'kin' joke trying to get food and drink this weekend, I'm just glad that the Tournement itself was excellent!

Oh, and big up the Escaramouche boyz featuring the legendary Matt Green - was great playing with you guys this weekend and gutted that we missed qualifying:(

Is this the way ahead for Millenniums?

Well it just looks like Amsterdam have taken the Paris event a little further.

In Disney there was no where to buy lots of water (large bottles) on site. Now although this is not directly the promotor/organisers fault you would think they could have tried to arrange something better than well overpriced diddy bottles at the bar...

Come on Millennium - step in and control these idiotic organisers. You are asking for people suffering serious dehydration! Hmm Madrid and Toulouse coming up 30+ tempratures how fun that'll be!

Amen

Ledz this been 'eating' me up all day we got through alot of water in our matches would have cost alot of money to buy it on site.
I even heard horror storys of people being threatened by 'sercuity staff'
So wrong does some one have to pass out in a xball match before this is sorted out?
We are ment to be a sport! Even i thought the food was ****.
Apart from that a great event!

Ledz,

I didn't realise that was going on, none of your guys said any thing ...... That's fcuked up! they actually refused your entry if you were bringing in water!!?!

Not that it helped anyone who wasn't playing EXL but after a request from Paris, Steve Morris arranged for the water to be laid on for the EXL players .

Easy answer to that one - how many of us are still carrying tokens round that cost 1 euro each?
Thats a lot of money that was never spent but still went in the organisers pocket:mad:
The food was a joke. I waited in line for 45 minutes to get a rock hard baguette with cheese and ham on it but no butter.
Don't know who the guys on the front gate were but there was a lot of pi33ed of people wandering around after being searched,

mmmmm

i wonder how many times tim henman has been told he cant take his own drinks to a tennis match or how many times ryan giggs has been stopped taking a half time snack into a stadium.

its absolutly rediculous that the competitors/althletes (term used loosely) were being forced into this situation.

i can 100% agree with the organisers insisting that spectators do not bring their own food/drinks but the people that are paying to be there in the first place.....thats nothing short of stupid.

the millenium seriously need to sort this out and NOW! how much work would be involved in getting one of the major bottled water manufacturers (do they actually make it....erm bottlers) involved in supplying water to teams at sensible prices etc.?????
