Anybody want to buy an X Ball(tm) scoreboard?

Just noticed an ad for the scoreboard on Millennium's website. Do you think that means Millennium won't be doing X Ball(tm) next season?

Or maybe there's a new and improved scoreboard coming along.:D

Nice the way communication channels flow.

Steve, tell me to shut up if I'm being too nosy, but did they give you any reason why? From all accounts, it seems you have done a hell of a job with the proverbial hand tied behind your back....

Nick and Jay,

The point is that I haven't heard, been told anything. Then I see the scoreboard for sale.

But I have heard, seen hints about certain things. Such as the possibility of new developments for next season. But nothing directly more than what anyone can read here.

It will be interesting to see what's in the cards for next season. Why haven't we heard from Mama Lambini's crystal ball? Did it also get stolen at the Crystal Palace (along with my Halo I never got a chance to use)?

No Nick,

I never said any such thing. That was your interpretation (or maybe you know something I don't). I said that some questions about the way I performed my job was communicated to me.

This thread, and my last comment, wasn't supposed to degenerate into some junior high school gossip mill. I just wanted to bring the news about the X Ball scoreboard over here and to express my surprise that I had not heard anything about the apparent decision.

As for me "being sacked" I don't know. If there is no X Ball within Millennium then I obviously can't be paid next season to be X Ball commissioner. But there could be other things coming along, who knows. Some of the board members have been treating me as if I am part of the operation since Campaign. But I haven't heard the results of the last meeting.

Obviously there are a lot of issues still up in the air.

Well, not trying to fan any flames, but I think it's ludicrous that, if you are still officially X-ball head honcho, you have not at least been informed about such actions. Be it because they are getting a new one, or because they are calling the whole thing off.

As far as your performance goes, I'm sure you have stood on a few toes this season (we all do), but no matter what people say, you have done what you were told to do, and that's run a league of X-ball. And with the means at your disposal, I'd say you have done more than what was asked of you. Personally, as a spectator, I am not that impressed with X-ball, (but I'd like to give it a try as a player one day) but organisation wise, what I saw was spot on. The things that I could fault were outside your zone of infuence, and were to "blame" on the promoters. So I give you props dude.

Thanks a lot, Jay,

And thanks again for your help around DMA. (BTW, if you ever see the guy by the name of Johan, tell him I think he was a tremendous help. The best of the whole season.)

Concerning the entertainment value of X Ball, it will be fine-tuned and will improve. It is, after all, TV bound.

Concerning the commish job, it was one we all in Millennium NOW see as impossible the way it was laid out. I had expressed that I would not even consider doing the X Ball thingy again under the same terms as this past season (maybe that is what Nick was referring to) and I'm sure everyone realizes that we would have to make some structural changes to do anything like that again. I don't think anyone would do that job under the same circumstances again and they know it.

I feel confident in my feeling that the goals I had set for the project were met or exceeded. The only things I regret are a couple of moments in which I irritated some people I respect greatly, but that's only human nature under the circumstances (and I learned a lot in the process).
