That's classed as New Old Stock - and as such must be clearly stated in your sale post.

New old stock (abbreviated NOS) refers to merchandise being offered for sale which was manufactured long ago but that has never been used. Such merchandise may not be produced anymore, and the new old stock may represent the only market source of a particular item at the present time. Although not an officially recognized accounting term, it is in common use in the auction and retail industries.

It is commonly defined as any stocked item which is either A: out of production; B: discontinued from the current line of product; C: has been sitting on a stockroom or warehouse shelf for some time; or D: any combination of the above.

While damage to the original packaging is common, damage to its contents is generally not acceptable in determining if an item is NOS, as it should be presentable in the same form as when new.

Some people also refer to such merchandise as New Obsolete Stock to further indicate that the items have not been manufactured for several years.
So, it is your responsibility to check that the items you sell as NOS or a variation of that term do not undercut any UK store that may sell the same product line. Sound fair?

My understanding was that for MAP pricing to be ratified by the OFT and DTI it had to be a volountry agreement between manufacturer, supplier and dealer stopping short of the customer. So if an individual owns an item it is upto them what price they sell it for which is one of the purposes of a classified section anyway. MAPs have so many loopholes its untrue so i can iagine it'll take up a hell of alot of mod's time to even attempt to effectively police it? I can't say the new classifieds rules affect me but thought i'd ask in the interest of fair trading :)

Are you also proposing that if i bought something from Eclipse (e.g.) at £19.95 plus postage, i'm not allowed to sell it for less than that until they drop their prices? So manufacturers will need to publish their price drops so people can sell things quickly in classifieds and not contravene the rules.

To me it just seems that if i was paying the prices for the amount of exposure (which i've looked into on past business projects) then they want their banners displayed as much as possible. The banner is different on every page. The highest traffic section on this forum is the classifieds which i'm assuming also has the highest number of page changes per min per user. So if the use of classifieds goes down because people are no longer getting the cheap prices they're after, then the dealers you're trying to protect might be benefitting in sales but losing out on exposure ultimately rendering investment in banners on P8ntballer as an unecessary cost?

Yes the 'private'/'non PGI supporting' seller doesnt have to respect MAP.
As long as he can buy them cheap enough, you cant stop him selling items below retail.
After this rule is in place, the 'private'/'non PGI supporting' seller cant sell brand new items anymore on PGI classifieds.
Problem solved.

In the case of a shop, the exposure has to result in sales or the shop goes out of business.
For example, if I owned a grocers, there would be no point in starting an advertising campaign at the local Tescos, no matter how high the exposure, because Tescos prices are very competitive.

Totally agree with you on this one Gassy, these forums exist because of advertising revenue and some peeps take the pi$$.
I agree with Gassy's idea, but I wouldn't say these forums exist because of advertising revenue. The cost of running a forum like this should be very low for PGi, their main revenue being the mags. The forum does give them EXTRA revenue however by charging for advertising.
