OK think of it this way
Jon at Lips,Jamie at Sloth or Neil at Heaven(in no particular order) are generous enough to supply 5 brand new packs as a prize at a tourny,the team that wins them sells them for a quick buck on the forum so now 5 people who bought these prize packs are now not going to buy a pack from the said shop.So basically its has cost the shop 10 sales instead of 5.
If you win Free equipment at an event then why not, if you cannot use them due to sponsorship pass them on to another team who do not have the backing your team does.Just a thought !

Practically the same as giving away stuff, except it would mean anything off their shelfs and not just one kind of gear

Maybe the shops will turn round and stop offer prizes altogether and decide just sell equipment instead of giving away.
i wouldn't blame them, i feel paintballers always want something for nothing, it's the same with sponsorship.
if a marker has 1 ball through it there should be no problem selling it as technically it isnt brand new, as long as you dont adverise it as brand new all is good.
