In all the time I have been playing, the chrono limit at big events has always been 300fps.

Most of the smaller events follow suit, but sometimes a lower limit is imposed for safety reasons, for example, low netting.

After all, a standardised fps limit is one element of moving towards one rule book for all events.

tiffer if you knew my mrs you,d understand:)jonathan i thought all bullies events back in the day where all 280;)when simple the best was one of the biggest events in the uk.the scenario boys have got a commitee very much like the feds together to sort out the scenario scene with one set of rules for events and they have recommended that all events should run at 280:)if anybody had a case for 300 it would be these guys as its mainly long balling, but with supair it is played on smaller tighter fields so do we really need a chrono limit of 300:)

But it's always been the standard at major events and in the US (unless something has changed recently - my experience is 2000 - 2008). It seems silly to have variable velocities not only because it implies an inconsistency in enforcing safety, but making gun set-up a proper pain in the bum. It was always best to get your gun to run as consistent at possible, and that would normally be in the 297-300 fps range. If yoru equipment was couldn't enough to run consistently at the limit, you start to give teh advantage to your opposition.

Changing the fps is something we'd have to do enmass but as it's not a massively contentious issue I can't see it changing anytime soon, there again I'm only a player so although I have an opinion it won't be as important as other peoples in the sport.
I don't think the difference of the 20 makes much difference to most it certainly doesn't stop us playing.
Mugging and 0vershooting has more to do with the bruising than the fps..:D

I can't remember playing any events with a limit below 300fps, but when you consider the size of the old woodland fields (where you could break out and spend 5 minutes trying to find anyone to shoot) it would seem to make sense to drop it down to about 280 for sup air.
