So for $800 (ish) you can have a gun that's (IMHO) at least equal to anything there is out there.....and I believe better.

So what can you get in the UK for £550 odd, new and modded up :)

Case rests

But I agree, markers are all about preference.
Maybe just a touch more but how about aka Viking :p :p :p

That was actually what I was going to get (or Excalibur) before I stumbled on the Timmy when looking for an electro's at the beginning of the year, before Timmy's took off.

But no ACE, the need to by expensive bespoke tool kits, and the ROF limit to 13bps all put me off.

I've now shot several at the Cup and IAO and I just didn't get on with it at all.

Also, the viking is just an AKA version of the impusle. The Excaliber on the other hand is a mighty impressive gun Beaker. Shoots acurate as a cocker and can shoot 13 BPS. It's heavy as hell though, even after its milled.

Wooooaah AKA version of Impulse? Not likely!!

Firstly and biggest difference is operating pressure and bolt pressure aren't the same, unlike the Impy, operating pressure of a Viking is between 180-200psi while the bolt operation is 90psi stock (then between 55-65 once broken in). Also the solenoids don't blow up quite so easily! :D

The Viking is based on a 3 tubes design, with a very large air reservoir to remove the possibilities of shoot down, low first shots etc. That Impys suffer. No need for mods or custom work of any description to get it shoot perfectly out the box.

Then theres efficiency. . .I get roughly 1100-1200 shots out of a 45ci/45 fill :D

Also both the Viking and Excal are probably 2 of the best built markers on the market, no rattles as solid as can be. . . .unlike Impys that seem pretty fragile in comparison.

Heavy?? there lighter than an Angel. . . .

Expensive bespoke toolkits. . . $55 (roughly £35) expensive? The only possible reason you'd want to do anything to a Viking is to lower the LPR
pressure, there no tuning or nothing possible on the operation of the gun.

As for no ACE. . . who needs an ACE when the bolt can stop on misfed balls?

13bps. . . ok, currently, just wait a month or so til the new software appears upcapped, currently 27.7bps looks amazing with a HALO B.

As for the Excal nuff said really, excellent gun and with the new software shooting 20bps with a HALO B, even better!!

Anyway that enough rambling from me! ;)

Hmm...

I don't agree about the impulse thing either, the Viking and Excal are great guns, like I said I was going to buy them!

The thing with it, if you have one in the UK you need to have eveyrthing to hand that you might possibly need. If I was attneding NPPL's etc might be more viable but I've spent about £70 on spares for my Timmy just so I have one of everything in case it goes wrong. However, the bloody thing has been good as gold and only have one seal go in 8 months or so  :)

Also, the AKA's just don't "feel" right, they are heavy and feel kinda over engineered, like they are made to withstand Armageddon! I really don't like the trigger either, and there were no aftermarket options, although there is a blade now i think.

As for the ACE slowing things - not on the Timmy, The Eq sample the eye (apparently) 1 million times a second, the SOB 66 times a second. THere is no delay like the Vision where it seems to look for the ball after you've pulled the trigger - that's just odd :)

There is no right or wrong answer to which gun is best. I like the Timmy as it's Cheap, reliable, f***ing fast, no chops and efficient.

It is dog ugly though :D

When i was looking at Excals the toolkits where only being released, I believe it was at least $100 for all the gauges etc etc and then there were spares on top, all the different cartridges were going to add up and up.

Ok, perhaps not heavy but definately "clunky". Really don't feel light and nimble.

I can show you vids of Timmy's cycling at around 25bps and shooting mid 20's, easily and more to come.

I don't want to get into AKA vs Timmy as they are (to me) equally competant guns and the Timmy just edged it with a set of features that were already available at the time, and they have only got better.
