Not easy it's fact. It places a lot of onus on the individual to train.

The baseline fitness of the UK players versus his US and Scandinavian counterparty is much lower. Minimum PT for a "pro" / topflight baller should be 10hrs pw cardio and weights. That's quite easily attainable without hitting Skills development at the weekend.

Remember that the US talent pool is a lot bigger, hence the incidence of naturally gifted and "fit" is going to be greater.

Depends how much you want it really.

we want it bad, last year was very very tough having to withdraw and train train train. We are just starting to make real progress and hope that this scrim talk will work in our favour.

Lets see what happens.

its that word again, Commitment of players i do make the shockwave team do some fitness work but as i said to the guys you should do fitness work during the week, and i know that only 3 of them do it. i know what i want from my players but i don't get it very offten. i wish i had all players willing to die to win! all i ask is to give me 100% if you get beaton by the better team then so be it.

Re: trainin against the best in the UK

This is where I will pitch in;

Bolter - your post here will hardly inspire your fellows to undertake scrimmaging with your team.

As Stongle says later - this will benefit those guys for sure but what of Shock/Tigers?

Where's the advantage for them?

If anyone is going to scrimmage against anyone then it must be undertaken for the right reasons and under the right circumstances and conditions - well my opinion anyway. You guys can do what you want of course!!

Good luck everyone next year - use your resources wisely!!

There is no option

If shock/tigers dont train against the americans/russians there stuck, its as simple as that, if they dont train against the yanks/russkies what else are they gonna do, so they might aswell train against the best in the UK instead of small tournaments where most of the teams are rookie/novice teams plus, cus they play pro it doesnt mean they are invincible from novice/amateur teams, you see pro teams losing to not pro teams all the time.

so

If shock/tigers are not happy with trainin against lower teams and cant commit to train against higher teams they might aswell concentrate on drills and techniques

Since UK teams have yet to reach parity with the US or Russians, they should look at something achieveable. As I previously stated, Joy are leaps ahead of either team, how do you think they achieved that? Infact at every level from Pro down to Nov, the European or Scandinavians generally hold the top spots.

Back to basics:

Get Fit
Get Skilled
and
Get off the hype machine
