Because there is no one to put them right.
The other refs are busy reffing.
The rest of the players are either busy trying to play paintball or stood facing the other way in the deadbox.
lol I tried once as a spectator, pointed out that the hopper hit that he (eventually) pulled the player out for had been there for the last 5 mins, had he been infront of the player rather then behind he would have seen it, the responce? 'what team do you play for?'

Wow I all the booze I've drunk at uni must have really, really hurt my brain because judging from the subject and first post I thought this thread was for congratulating a group of British refs for being appreciated at the highest level. Clearly I am mistaken.

ps. Well done guys!

Hey kids.
These remarks may not apply. If so I'll amend them tomorrow. (I'm tired and haven't closely read the posts . .) but if we're talking about the goofballs wearing silly hats at elven skirts with bells--then they are not my idea of first rate officials--in fact, I would be severely stressed if my team was playing on their field.
I'm sure they're a nice group of fellas but X-ball refs they ain't.

(Of course, I have problems with more than a few of the NXL refs, too, so take that into account . . )

EDIT ADDED: Ok, looked through it again. Will stick with prior comments. English refs were moved to the featured PSP divisional Xball field for reasons other than their skillz.

Once again Baca speaks with the voice of "authority" on a subject I suspect he knows nothing about... but hey... any old rumor is good for spreading if you need to make yourself feel more important...

I shall read more of Baca's postings and see what else I can learn from the master... might come in useful one day:)

Baca, you really do spout some crap sometimes, which is OK, everyone is entitled to in an open forum... my only worry is that some people might actually start believing the garbage you churn out.

Come on then, lets have it, this first hand information and the source from whence it came as to why the Brit refs were selected for the Pro X-ball?

There were three European (if you count UK as European) reffing squads/fields at the World Cup. One was the UK Refs who had earned a good reputation at the Orlando Cup.

Then there were the two squads I put together I called Eurorefs. It started out with Kenneth Borg as head ref on the PSP field and me as head ref on the Dye field. Each field had an additional couple of excellent American refs, including Canadian Mark who was also a head ref.

When fields started closing down on Friday the UK Refs took over pro games on the PSP field. On Saturday morning the best of the Eurorefs alternated every other game with the UK Refs. For the final two games the best of all squads was put together from the Eurorefs, UK Refs and American PSP refs.

Notice that we didn't need help from the NXL refs although I really enjoy working with them.

If we missed much of anything in the last two pro games I would be surprised.

The person you're describing is Marko Polak, a Croatian who lives in Germany, and is one of the Eurorefs. Sure he's got his own "style" going on but he's one of the best refs you're ever likely to encounter. Great at Millennium 7-man, great at PSP 5-man and great at X Ball.

If you take the cream of the two fields I put together then you would have a reffing squad as good as NXL except a lot less experienced at X Ball. In fact one of our guys was recruited to ref with NXL and reffed Nemacolin and the Cup. Others have been approached too.

So I'm proud of our guys and their great performance at the World Cup.
