Ok, ignore me if I am wrong... and my opinion maybe doesn't matter but
from what I can understand reading this thread (from rentals pov), UK ball has no catch for non-pb sponsors.

Events are for ballers by ballers and watched by ballers. In order to attract an out side audience you would need some way of producing a high profile event in the UK to attract sponsors that aren't necessarily associated with PB.

If you look at football, the main sponsors for most top league teams aren't football related, its because they know by the team playing and doing well in a major league they are getting good exposure to a wide audience. By a UK company saying to UK team A, we want to sponsor you. How much exposure will they get in the UK if the team plays most if not all its games in Europe?
Is it really worth them investing?

Everyone has said its not the top teams that are at fault, its the sponsors that dictate where you play... do you not get any say? Could you not discuss with your sponsors that you would like to take part in something in the UK?

Maybe its down to the event organisers to come up with something to improve the sponsorability of UK teams, but why would you watch 10 no-body teams when you would watch some of the best teams battling it out (in Europe)?

Just a though, and as I said... maybe I am wrong but that's what I have gathered from this.

Why don't people realise paintball is not worth outside sponsorship?

Stop saying paintball doesn't get outside interest because of this or that blah, blah, blah. Stop comparing paintball to other sports such as football, rugby. etc. Its not the same.

Why don't major companies support model car racing? Or extreme iron boarding?

Because its not worth it.

This is'nt something that is going to change. Deal with it or don't play. Stop waiting to be paid to play, to be famous like Wayne Rooney, Becuase I've got some news.... It ain't gonna happen.

Just play because you like playing. I don't think I see enough people enjoying themselves when they play.

Coldy

Ps, enjoying yourself is not going out on the saturday of an event, in every piece of casual paintball clothing you own and getting drunk with the rest of your fat ass team mates. I hear enough people bragging about how hung over they were when they played and got smashed. Good for you, no really....

Coldy,

What I meant more, was if a small UK shop (PB Shop) said they wanted to sponsor a team, if that team plays mostly in Europe there is no point. They are not getting the exposure they are paying for.

I dont ask that people pay me to play... thats what my job is for, I am looking at this from the outside in.

The teams that play in europe are more likely to get into magazines and are more discussed on these boards, like ECI and NK after their good showing at campaign.

if a small UK PB shop wants to sponsor a team that only plays the UK scene, having the bigger boys there wont get them more attention, in fact it will probably detract from it as everyone will be looking at the big teams.

PA anyone???

Shock, Nexus, Disruption, ECI, NK etc etc

Surely this has to be the answer, kinda similar to what pro tour had?

Until last weekend shock and nexus hadn't trained against each other in about 2 years!!! Crazy right?? So when we couldn't play nexus, we had to go abroad to get the level of play we required to train against, joy, syndicate, tontons yada yada yada.

There is light at the end of the tunnel, D7's (you dont need to hear anymore just check the trainin forum, everyone raves about this place, its no surprise why) and the PA has the top teams in england in attendance.

More often than not this comes down to funds/commitment, shock tried to set up a couple of clinics so far this year, trying to increase the standard of paintball in the uk. We had to cancel because only 3 players in the country wanted to come. Thats 3 out of what a thousand or so players.

and the amount of uk m5 teams is unreal, im pretty sure teams have actually stepped down divisions to play m5. Thats stupid. you'd do better holding your own in div 1 than winning m5.

anyway see you ALL at the pa this weekend right?

Man, you grew up fast I aint heard a proper piece of Childstyle smack talk yet!!

You're right though.

It's kinda the same always, can't believe it hasn't changed in 3 years. I was expecting there to be loads of chat about the new kids coming through and tearing fools apart and being the next big thing...etc but all I'm hearing is how, without being harsh here guys, teams who haven't a chance of playing against the big guns expect the UK big guns to hold their hands. Aint gonna happen. Do you hear non league sides whingin that Man United don't play in their division to make them better? No.

Whcih is why I harp bakc to my FA Cup event comment. These are the events you guys (us guys) should be excited about. I remember these same arguements and complaints, then, at some events when the likes of Shock, Tigers and Ecstasy used to turn up instead of everyone being excited to play them they'd start crying and ballin' like babies becasue 'we've no chance now with them here'. We used to LOVE playing the bigger teams. I gurantee that if the chance to COMPETE against Shock, Nexus...etc became a regular things, you'd all moan that you get whupped and can't take home a £4 trophy.

As before. It is up to the smaller teams to make the tournaments better, not the big guns, they've done their work to get where they are and it is unfair for everyone to try to bring them down to lower levels.

You wanna see people having fun playing hard ball and enjoying it? Come see K2 on Sunday, we'll show you what you're missing. Will we win some? Yeah. Will we get owned? Yeah but are we gonna cry like babies and blame everyone else? Nah.

Rant over.
I love you all ;)

Especially Kyle. x

Oh and without sounding like a ****, try to play some southern events because the level of ball is better there. Fact. This is from a Northern lad through and through.

Im going to focus on the only argument i think is worth debating which is the development of UK paintball. The outside sponsorship argument is completely pointless because it will never happen to the extent we wish and so people should stop raising it as an issue in this thread.

Although many clever people in this thread have talked a lot of sense and put forward points that most likely contribute to the state of paintball, the only solution to almost every UK paintball related problem is the development of a National League under the watch of UK tournament organizers. At the moment the PA is the closest to this and so has the support of the all the top teams on sunday.

Secondly anyone with a brain cell will agree that practicing in the right places is the most effective way of raising the standard of play at the domestic level. Furthermore anyone who is good at paintball knows about D7s, i believe this is the only site in the UK that can mould strong players, Shock / Notorious / ECI / these teams are perfect products of D7s streetball, they are in the trenches every weekend. <That statement in no way negates that plenty of other teams try to do so. The player base in the North is far larger than the South, however the standard of play in the South is soooo much better than the North.

Hate to admit the North v South arguement but playing with Shock and being around that scene opened my eyes.

More competitive. I think more Northern ballers (generalising) want to play for kicks but a lot of the Southern scene seems to be geared more towards competing. I think there is more potential in the North but the Southern Connection is more organised and focused mentally, which wins games.
