Im like Polyfilla I fill cracks
Tourny ball

La La La same old story year in year out !
The top players in this country have always moaned that tha only way to play for a Better team and therefore gain experience at a very high level was to travel and play in the states (Big Robbo and hammy went and played for The AAs and M.davies used to guest for the ironmen I Think) and Big Robbo was moaning about our lack of growth as a sport back in 94..(the benfit of nearly 150 pgis in a cupboard means you get a great sense of DEJA VU)

After 14 years playing as a sport we

1) Still dont have a single govening body
.....This is essential in talking to goverment ..police...and other official bodys.....ARE we still lumped together with clay pigeon shooters by the Sports council of great britain

2) No standerdised rules or procedures
.........Ramping ,No ramping,,,Velocity,,,caped limits..Penalty point or 1 4 1,,,Banable offences(Big Robbo and Simon cole Both Took VOLUNTARY bans at some time because total bans were unworkable)

3) No working together as an industry
......Both bully series and the masters used to play at a different site each month players got VARIETY now were lucky if we get to 4 or 5 a year...How can the smaller site owner who wants to get involved in tournements manage to get a foot in the door......Distributors need to work together (even in a limited respect) where medium and large competitions are concerned

4) Sponsorship and Costs
..............the cost of playing has come down in real terms(politician speak) the cost of all your starters playing kit £450 (less than a weeks AVERAGE PAY ((goverment figure)) A Lapco grey ghost (The must have marker for 91) was £400 a squegge £15 a 50 shot pot was £5 (ok now laugh)
paint 25--35 a bx less than half we used to pay (60 -100 a box)
Entry fees now 35 back in 91 it was 30 - 50 dependent if it was a bring your own...
.......sponsor ship (here we Go) teams used to be around a lot longer because it took a long time to get noticed and recieve anything and you wouldnt swop names because YOU needed to appear consistant year in year out...but then 80% of sponsor ship went to 20% of teams and this effect made teams HUNGRY for SUCCESS...not like today(where picking a name from a hat and winning a low division make players think they deserve sponsorship)

5) Public attitude
.........same old same old "paintball did that once for a stag doo good laugh not been back since......so do you snipe at people from Trees........Why dont you just join the T.A and shoot a real gun" and guess what? its still the same today as it was always...

Thats it im donr for Today

great points robbo i mean when i first played(1991pgps) tourney back in 1993 at kooh doow at tim taylors super 7 series there was 5-6 divisions of 7-8 teams with at least 1 posssibly 2 pro teams and what is now semi pro in each division.
with the the likes of the vulcans, banzai, strikeforce, preds masai and zulu evey month once a month you just dont see that amount of quality in the scene now!!

as for prices who remebers the mid 90s paint price wars were paint went from 5p a ball to 3p and under 2pand at the time it was great for us ballers but no profit was made for reinvestment so the industry slowed down

as for a unified body in the early to mid 90s all players who played the npps in whatever part of the country had to be a member of the UKPSF(THIS WAS A WAY OF SHOWING THE GOVERMENT WE WERE A UNIFIED BODY OF INDIVIDUALS WHO WANTED TO BE TAKING SERIOUSLY) especially in those days when it was looking a bit scare for us to be banned and outlawed MANY THANKS TO STEVE BULL AND ALL THE INDIVIDUALS BACK IN THE DAY THAT HELPED STOP THIS;)

RULES
what a joke this has been going on since the year dot!!! 300fps ?280fp?semi? rampin/ full auto? what size fields? how many barraicades per field? its a bloody joke all the uk organizers from the pro tour ,pa,masters to uncle tom cobbly and all just try and get ONE set of rules for any event whether its based on nppl psp millenium or whtever so us the player and also payin customer get some kind of normality.

and as for public attitude it will always be the same weekend warriors who want to shoot people for a laugh. and this will never change because the rec ball business side of paintball is the profit makin side of industry this is what keeps the ball rolling so to speak

just my opinion from over the years and if i get flamed so be it,
