Take a moment to think about the target audience here. What would be the key demographic? Who would be interested enough in watching the games at the NSPL to spend 1 day of their weekend watching it?
The only way you'd get a sponsor to pay for it would be to show them that they are going to be visible to enough people who are then going to buy their products or use their services. If not, then who's going to front the cash to set it up? Are you? No one will pay to watch it; so maybe the extra cost should be put on the tournament entry fee? But then the teams might complain because they won't even get to see it.

How about making a few vids from the remaining NSPL/KoTH events, and putting then up online, see how many ppl view them. DO it the same way as you would live, so everyone can get the idea. Then on the same site at the end of the season, put a questionaire up asking who would like to see it done live, and also put banners asking for sponsors.

Then you must advertise it at the events, and anywhere else you can.

Start slow and work your way up doing it, probably the best idea to begin with.

As said in previous posts i feel its a great idea and any help you might need im more than willing to help out. I've had alot of experience with SHOUTcast and dedicated servers (Game Servers, Hosting, SHOUTcast all that malarky).

There arent many people in the market in the UK doing anything much similiar, and theres great opportunity. Yet, it would be a slow process im sure, and viewer rates would probably increase steadily over time, you just need a strong, supported/sponsored marketing campaign, a good webbie and a starting audience and i suppose you're away!

One things for sure, its gonna take a helluva lot of planning, organisation, communication, finance and one hard backbone to pull it off. But i cant see you having massive problems if you start off small :)

Will you be contributing money and/or labour to setting up this walkway? Because I'm fairly confident Syd has enough to do when setting up an event without the additional expense and effort of making a gangway if there's going to be, at best, a very limited PR benefit.

Syd's Webcast throughout 2007 was text-only, giving general updates on progress and scores.

Bubblegumbob - if you're going to do, then do it. No one with any marketing budget going to sponsor you until they can see reliable & repeatable viewing figures, that is unless they're looking for a tax write-off (highly unlikely in the current climate) or they know you personally and are doing it as a favour of sorts.
Err, text and still images from http:www.paintballpictures.co.uk

Other than the expense and effort, why, get in the thick of, just like Ray, Neil & I do, getting shot to bits on the tape, along with the refs. I'm sure if you wanted an overview then Sud would be willing to put you up in the cherry picker!

TBH Syd would welcome anyone who could seriously add video to the webcast, he floated the idea during the off season, but there were no takers for it. Sure the viewing figures would be low, may be your mum would tune in to see if she can see you playing, but it would be something to take to the sponsors. Maybe a better idea would to do a series of interviews with the sponsors on site, organisers and team captains, ultimates etc. Get some of the atmosphere without having technical difficulties of trying to make a game that has no single focal point interesting to the outside world.
