Problem is the true sport of wrestling has been established since ancient times. It didn't have to fight for acceptance. Even so, along comes the "Professional" wrestling crowd, and look what happens. Sure, true wrestling still exists in schools and the olympics, but when anyone says "wrestling" what do you think of? And where is the National Wrestling League? I don't see 'true' wrestling televised unless it's a high school or college tournament or the Olympics.

This could prove disastorous for any chance of paintball becoming an accepted sport and not just a kid's game to most of the world.

That, and I could do without going out to the field and have some 12 year old tell me he's gonna stomp my insides to a pulp like he saw Stone Cold Pete Robinson do the week before. :D

Furbs, I had a little talk with somebody (well respected and maybe's in the know) when I was in New York and he said there were plans to *******ise the production of X-ball to the point where half of the players wouldn’t even be playing in the new format because of 'aesthetic' requirements.
THAT'S what I was afraid of. I've said it for years....Paintball IS NOT wrestling, and it should not be marketed as such. It pisses me off that they're considering selling out the sport just to get it on TV. It's gonna get screwed up again just like it did back in 95.

But, lets see where the NPPL's version of X-Ball will go...maybe it will be the format needed for TV.

(**sigh**)

BTW, "Pro" wrestling (although it's FAR from REAL wrestling) is nothing more than a soap opera for guys.

Now granted I don't think turning Professional Paintball (whatever the format may be) into something akin to Professional Wrestling would be good for the sport, I have to admit that I'm having a ball with the possible grudge matches that'd come about:

Steve "Rabid Chihuahua" Davidson vs. Chris "NCPA" Raehl

Dale "Furby" Ford vs. Whoever's currently pissed off at me

Pete "Old and Cranky" Robinson vs. TJ "Oh hell the big bald guy is after me" Lambini

The list goes on and on...be there SUNDAY, SUNDAY, SUNDAY!!!

And I'll gladly act as the host for it...assuming my agent and the promotional people get it all worked out...*snicker*

I don't like the idea.

With wrestling, the outcome has already been determined, the "wrestling" is fake, and it's nothing more than a cash cow for the producers riding on the backs of those that sell out for a quick buck.

Additionally, paintball is a sport. Wrestling isn't real, nor is it a sport.
