phone the airline and customs to make shore its ok to travel. Also ive been told to take a paintball magazine so they undestand its not a fire arm. Also if you are taking tanks they need to be open, with valves taken off the bottle.

we are taking our bottles, yes, so you mean take out the nut thingy on the side to make sure there is no air at all.

Did a trip to Germany the end of September, and no problems going out, not even a question. But coming back Matt was in front of me and when his bag went through the xray machine, there was his marker in full glory, stood up in his bag. The guy nearly fell off his chair, he had to look twice, maybe three times, before he could believe his eyes. Needless to say he had his bag opened and the Angel brought out in the middle of the airport, and after a few explanations we were on our way, no probs.

So don't worry just be prepared for an explanation or two. Oh yes make sure there is no gas in your bottle and it is seperate from the reg.

Don't take the burst disc out (nut thingy on the side) as they should be replaced when taken off. Unscrew the bottle off the reg.

I take it the threads were stripped on the reg when you got them apart, you need ptfe grease on the threads, and only ptfe grease.

Aluminium against aluminium has a tendency to weld together when stressed, especially threads so be carefull, as you may have to seperate them in the airport.

it wasnt the threads that where striped, but the outside, it was in a right state, although the reg could still be used if you can your wrist across it it would have cut the skin, they are hard as nails to remove

If your flying with ryan air don't expect any trouble, as long as you warn them that you are a paintball team and you will be carrying markers with you they understand fully. Well they did when we wen't over to Stockholm with them in August. You just have to make sure your marker and all other paintballing parafanalia is in your main lugage and it is locked. And the bottle is de aired and removed from the regulator. I also suggest removing the barrel as well. also as stated before take a copy of pgi with you so you can show them what paintballing is.

Ryan air are a really good company for paintballers to fly with as they also contact your arriving airport to inform them that you are paintballers and what you are carrying. So you might experiance what we did not problems going through the arrival but custom officers asking where the tournement was being held and showing an interest in the sport.

Oh and ask Ryan air about thier sporting team suppliment. This means you pay an extra 20 odd quid but allows you to take a greater baggage allowance [I think it may be an unlimited allowance within reason, so no packing your back players into your kit bag to save thier seat costs]
