1--I'm NOT condoning the actions - I'm merely pointing out that some of the individuals that are busy throwing mud, might not themselves always be on their best behaviour.

2--AND - how many of these people have actually called on the newly founded players organisation to take action or contacted the Millennium Series directly on this issue ?

Talk about being helpful !

1--to what point? Maybe so, but if "they" are correct it hardly matters.
2--good question but it doesn't mean folks can't raise issues or identify problems. It just means they are less likely to get any real results than if they also made an active effort.

Note to Gyro--your animation is rather distracting. Please remove or, preferably, enlarge. (Just kidding;) :) )

Ton Ton's ARE the law!

Seriously though, the players org was started, what, last week? Give them a chance to get organized, heh.

Indeed. Stone the b*stards! :D

Raehl, is this not a case for the disciplinary committee, rather than the player's org? Plus, the events described took place in an independant tournament, not part of, or sanctioned by any series. Unfortunately.

Depends.

Who is ultimately responsible for the reffing? What is the procedure for disciplining refs?

I'm pretty sure there isn't one - and while the disciplinary action for a particular situation probably isn't the domain of the player's organization, making sure that there's at least a system in place to provide that discipline definitely should be.

So I'm suggesting that the player's organization should push for the creation of sucha system, not necessarily evaluate and discipline refs themselves.

Now, were this a player's organization that transcended particular leagues, i.e. a national or even a continental one, one might want said organization to keep records of referee performance and make that information available, at a minimum, to event promoters participating in the evaluation system, and perhaps to the general public.

I believe

a certain Mr Windler of this parish is the head of the Millennium Disciplinary Committee which is dealing with the Enemy situation - it's a Disciplinary Committee issue as far as I understand it and they should be announcing Enemy's fate soon.

I think several other regular posters here, including Big Sid and possibly Goose are on the comm...Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong

Does that committee have authority over refs though, or just players?

Pass - I imagine one of the unholy trinity of Goose, Brockdorff and Wadidiz will tell us presently...

1st - the disciplinary committee is a little "strange" right now.

This is mainly due to the fact that everyone has been good little boys & girls, and we haven't had anything to deal with in the past 8 months, and we haven't really kept in contact.

Also I personally feel that in this situation - there is nothing for us to do. The rules are quite straight forward, and there is nothing to investigate. They have admitted to breaking the rules, and as far as I am concerned an ignorance of the rules is not a defence.

We can discuss whether or not the ban is harder than other offences (or maybe the punishment for them is too light), but in my mind this should also not be a factor. THE RULE WAS IN THE BOOK BEFORE THE TOURNAMENT.

raehl - the committee has "authority" over all "bad boys & girls" at tournaments - but only to a certain extent. If there is a lot of heresay, and no solid proof we will not be involved. We are dealing more with behaviour away from the field - or afetr games - than anything else.

It is for this reason that I feel that we should not be the ones to have to deal with this - it is a simple case of breaking the rules during gameplay.
