To port or not to port ...

its a new american barrel system. The Equation Pro.
(have a look <a href="www.equationusa.com"> here </a> for a better idea)
13 / 15 inch (havent decided yet) with pro adapter, dragon mid section, and silencer tip(just cos i like the look of it).
All in red, with all 6 barrel inserts.
and its going on the cocker listed in my sig.

and dont tell me just to buy a freak. cos i dont like the look of them. and want something slightly differant

If thats the case then why with a javelin barrel which only has a single row of porting in the middle of the barrel if you cover the porting does the velocity rise?

Maybe. There's a big trend in the US with the Pro teams who use Matrix's to cover the back porting with tape, to decrease gas useage. Less gas used to fire the ball equals more shots per fill. Less porting means less gas useage, but more noise as the ball and gas leave the barrel at the same time, creating a louder pop.

How bigs your bottle again? I would definately go for effiecency over noise. You can make your cocker quieter with a new valve and stuff if you really have to.

If you use a less ported barrel you can turn you're velocity adjustment down a bit and get the same FPS, this is because less air is dispursed through the porting.
Think of it as a hose if you had a hose with holes in it you have to have a higher force of water coming through to get the same amount of water as a hose with no holes. DOes that make sence?
