To Marshal or Not To Marshal?

Liz, where would you draw the line? Fair enuff a marshall standing off the field being hit is probably intentional (maybe the odd shot bouncing off the barricades could be claimed tho), but if a rule was introduced where someone shooting a marshall intentionally would get pulled, then it would have to apply to the whole field wherever a marshall was standing. There would always be times when a marshall claimed that they were intentionally hit, but when it was really an accident.

There always has to be a line drawn somewhere & yes, it would have to be a judgement call, but many calls by marshalls have to be anyway. How many times do you have to try to work out whether a hit was in the "self-check" zone for that particular player in a particular make of goggles, or whether the mugger or the muggee shot the other first?
What we CAN'T afford to do is let players who are obviously shooting the judges intentionally get away with it. As I said, the odd one or two shots is one thing but what Jinxy went through was clearly over the line.
One possible way would be that if there is a suspicion of a player acting in this way, they should be reported to the ultimate who then makes sure he/she watches that player covertly from the sidelines to see what they think of their actions.

It was not just one player, over the two hours we had over 7 games.

Like I said in my article above, YES you expected to get hit now and then and when you go in to check someone.

But the amount of times in such a short amount of time is unacceptable. If it was a “punter” day, you expect to get shoot a lot more then you do on a tournament, better guns and experience players.

I think your right about getting a shield, as for the 3 suggestion well that is very tempting.

As someone suggested earlier, it seams like only marshals are putting there 10p (10c For our US Cousins) worth in.

Im not much of a writer but im sure PGI can come up with something regarding this issue.

Because sooner or later, we will end up with no marshals and then we will be in the S@*T.

This must be a good article for one of you super stars to write about, im sure I would be very interested and remember its not just tournament players but Rec players suffer with “Marshals Hunting”

I think a good way to discourage punters shooting at marshals is to take points off their team score;this makes the offenders team-mates put pressure on him to behave in a decent way.
Failing that just drag his ass off the site(once you've got the money)!
Ultimately if you marshal you get shot.Simple as that,most of us dont mind accidental ones but have you noticed how it hurts much more than when you're playing? Something to do with adrenaline I rekon.

I reckon if you don't rise to it or even flinch then they'll stop,

It always makes them think twice when they do it deliberatly cos ultimately It shows that you're not afraid of paintballs and that they are (especially if they get hit)

Another alternative of course would be to shoot the f#$@er back!

Bang on dude. With the 1st point, problem with shooting them back, as it could look bad for the site, just quite simply ask them to play u 1 on 1 (make sure that everybody watch's) Then put 3 into the f*#+kers arse. Works for me

Must always get your revenge on a even keel, much more fun.
