Time for control??

all good valid points i think and as i am sorta new to these forums (but been playing on and off for 15 years) i dont want to cause an argument with anyone regarding my views.
i think with the amount of people on this forum and friends of these people, surely we know people who work for bottle selllers and manufacturers. couldnt we get stickers put on the bottles or have it stamped on the bottle so people can see it. also signs on fill stations (not that people will read them)
its like many people have said its not the sellers but the buyers who are at fault. i was lucky enough to have a turks mag years ago when the first air america systems came into paintball. i used to fill from a dive bottle and i think at the time was one of the only peope in the south west to do this. i never had a problem. i do find now though with the more complex filling stations around there are always problems because of mis use. in the nspl where i play we have a new air system and to use it you have to line the nubbings up on the qd, then connect your bottle and twist the collar so the bottle is locked in and wont pop out under filling. once filled you then have to re-enline the nubbings and take your bottle off. the amount of people i see trying to wrench their bottles off because they dont understand the nubbin thing is unreal.
so i think its down to the individual or the teams to make sure they are confident in using the equipment, not the blame of the bottle itself. face it, you can buy anything brand new and have faults with it just the same.
if we have new people coming into teams who dont know what they are doing perhaps some of the other members of that team should help more.
someone knows whose bottle that was and it seems like it was an incident that doesnt happen that often, thank god, so lets not think about banning stuff, lets think about stopping it from happening again
perhaps this is something we should incorperate into training days and seminars and like i said warnings on bottles. we get a sticker to say your bottle has been looked at in the morning why not have one that gives a warning.
anyway my veiws over as i seem to be rambling.
cheers guys

I agree that is the perfect way around it, simply put a warning or all hazards onto the bottle in the form of a sticker, or actually put it on before the clear coating goes on would be pretty simple!

No its a good point - knowing who and where to send your tank for a service is a good question - most shops sell them, but i dont even know who to ask (other than Hpac of course) so a sticky woth this info and what to do, when and where would probably help.

Tom could probably check your bottle as well - but why not take it to someone locally who deals with HPA all day long. That being your local scuba/diving shop. That is where I get my bottles filled and tested. I know that they do a full safety check not only on the bottle - but on the reg/valve as well.

You take a car to a mechanic - you take a watch to a jewelers, so why not take your air bottles to a dive shop?

HTH :)

I think that extended warning on bottles is a great idea. Im looking at selling one of my tanks soon and from just reading this thread i think im going to have to go the local scuba shop and see if they can give it a once over.

cool.
i know steve bull from years ago as he used to do our camo. (god bless those days) and i believe he is the boss of the ukpsf. i would have a word to see if we could possibly get something to do with this sorted through them. when niall squires (and me) started the 10 man south west league years ago we prefered players to be a member so news letters and stuff members got could mention this. one problem i live in somerset so running across steve is a bit of a trek. perhaps if someone saw steve we could get some advice.
another thing is surely among us we know someone who produces stickers. perhaps they could make some up for us. i would be happy to pay a quid each or so for a sticker to put on my bottles, and i think people who think this is a good idea wouldnt mind paying.
we need to promote this as a whole not just a couple of us. if we can get most of the bottles in the country with stickers on, thats half the battle. perhaps planet would put stickers on the ones they sell. i know tom, ledz, jules, jack and the boys pretty well so can mention it. just a few ideas!
so where do we go guys, its up to us
