I can explain that...

Well, how do I put this....

That was what I listend to through high school. Quiet Riot, Twisted Sister, GnR, Warrant, Poison, Van Halen, AC/DC... I know all the hits.

(EDIT ADD : I nearly FORGOT "Dangerous Toyz!" Sheesh! I'm bad!)

So, yah, I know my 80's Hair Bands. I'm not proud of that fact, but it's still there.

I think any kid growing up in the States between the ages of 15-21 during the 80's was seriously affected by the hair band phenomena that gripped this nation by its *** sack!!

Ill never fault ya for a problem that gripped so many(myself included):D

But when you mention the ever forgetful Snow(which i had just about purged from my memory),and for all who dont know the infamous WHITE reggae artist, lets just say im glad the 80's have past us by and wont ever come back :p

Whats even scarier is when people not much younger than I ask me what that song is im singing and they dont know the theme from Fraggle Rock I feel really old :(

Old Ice T, bodycount days?
Shees Tyger, Bodycount is the NEW Ice T. I remember when it was nothing but rap that he did. First Bodycount album was released in 1993 or something...

Am I that old....?

You mean Disorder ?

What I meant to infer was that I'm pretty sure Body Count's success came after the soundtrack as it paved the way for that kind of crossover.

That albums rocks though - Fallin' and Another Body Murdered - :D

Yes, you are. :)

Ice T is doing a show here in the states called "Beyond Tough", where he goes to interview people with jobs that are life risking stuff. I found myself laughing when he was riding shotgun in a California Highway Patrol car talking to a cop. Can you say "Irony"?

Ice Cube is an actor now, LL Cool J has a show, Queen LAtifah has her own show... It's ridiculous! I'm waiting for a kinder, gentler Dr. Dre to emerge. They gave Eminem a movie, why not?

And, TJ, "Will Smith" doesn't really count as a rap artist. He's kinda... well... wait.... No, he's not.

You want "out there" tho? Us 3, Skee Lo, and Lou Bega. There, that's out there. :)

No no no....that wasn't Bodycount. That was Ice T and Slayer teamed up.
I think you're thinking of the Anthrax / Public Enemy team up album that had "Bring the Noise" on it. That was actually the first crossover of metal and rap. "Walk this Way" by Run DMC (Cover of Aerosmith tune) wasn't really the same, as it was a cover and not a real cooperative effort.

It did re-launch Aerosmith's career tho... Not too shabby. If you really want to go to the obscure tho, we can talk about "Wango Tango" by Ted Nugent, "Rapture" by Blondie (Featuring Fab 5 Freddy, if I'm not mistaken), Some of the Doors stuff, a lot of blues, most scat jazz, big band, or we can even go back to gregorian chant to talk about spoken word and the first rap. Fusion is nothing new. :D

IIRC Bodycount fist showed up maybe 92, cos there was a metallic track on Ice T's Original Gangsta album entitled Bodycount.

And for bonus points, the title track on OG featured on which movie soundtrack?
91 saw the release of the OG album. There's even the little speach on the end of the album about it being finished on january 15th, a few days before Desert Storm came along.
Hey TJ, don't you mean that New Jack Hustler was on the New Jack City soundtrack? That was not the title track though...
