I have read that when the markers were shipped they had dow55 on (swells the o-rings) and this is making the seal a bit tight.

If they ship it with dow55 they probably suggest using this, but as it swells o-rings obviously don't, mix a bit of oil (like eclipse oil, not wd-40/3in1, lol) with some dow33 and use that, works a treat on my shocker, well, if I told you whereabouts it goes would have to kill you, but the mix it's self it fairy explanitory and works well as a tinner grease for spools as dow can become a bit clumpy over time, the oil seems to help a bit
