They also have a lwayer on saying hes probably breaking about 20 laws so dont expet it to be around much longer...:)
Well as someone else had said (may have been you?) "IF" this "game" had been all about naked women and wearing goggles "we" as paintballers would have probably just laughed it off as twisted people but safety from an eyesight point of view has been adhered to so let them carry on lol lol  but it wasn't. So the paintball community jumped on him and in turn the news groups as this has generated a huge amount of publicity so even the most seasoned "hack" would have found about the "game". Maybe he will think up another scheme to let the men have their way with the women...I do understand the legalitys of prostitution in different states. Lets be happy that the "heat" may then bypass paintball, because to repeat what has been said before "if a girl/or anyone loses an eye"...the paintball marker will get the blame not the reckless way in which safety was ignored. it wouldn't be the first time that paintball has been in the frame for something like this...remember the jogger/cyclist? who had a heart attack near a signpost that had been shot up by paintballs, the media went crazy....ok it got proved later on that paintball had nothing to do with the event...but did the media cover that result with the same vigour as when it first reported the event when it became known that paintball had nothing to do with it....nope hidden away in the small columns.

Has anybody thought that maybe it's just a hoax? That it was all staged for the reporter that visited the site, and that nobody has actually paid the $10 000 to take part? Check out this from the urban legend site snopes.com:
http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/outrage/bambi.asp

By the way Jay Leno made a joke about it last night.
He said "Are there now so many hookers in Vegas, that we have to bring in Hunters to thin out the herd?"

I completely agree with you about the safety aspects and what could potentially be a PR nightmare for PB but now it seems through this constant pressure being applied to him that the girls are required to wear goggles...Thats a great thing in this whole messed up situation..Glad he was willing to bend a little bit..

Personally, its not suited to my taste(id rather the chicks had markers 2) :p,but if the women are adhearing to basic safety measures, and doing this on thier own free will,I really have no right to say as to how others want to make a living as long as its legal...

I believe that if 99% of basic pball players are following all safety rules, that theres no way the other 1% of fools will ever have a chance to make a dent in shutting us down or placing heavy restrictions upon us..I may be wrong, but im sure with as fast as PB is growing, sooner or later we'll have some high profile story of the dangers of paintball markers and maybe even an attempt to do something about it but thats an eventuality we'll have to deal with when the time comes..

Whether its someone picking thier mask up on a field, forgeting to put a barrel plug or condom on in the goggles off area,or naked women running around with no masks on,theres always gonna be some scrutiny because, honestly,if you dont adhere to safety,a paintball marker is extremely dangerous and there will always be people who dont like dangerous things, and people who dont adhere by the rules...

On this being a hoax :

The only problem is that the site has a video already in place for sale. (Video AND DVD!, BTW.) They also had a full system in place to purchase your 'hunt' online. Hoaxters usually won't leave a way to get back in touch with them.

I look at sites like "Bonsai kittens" or "Penguin Warehouse" . Unfortunately, this seems all too real.

And if it WERE A hoax, this guy's got a lot of money invested in it. Not to mention that he's not using it as a launchpad to hype somehting else. Publicity over a hoax is worthelss unless you funnel it ito somehting.

Well maybe hoax wasn't the right word. I think that there have been some "Hunting sessions" for the video that may have been staged, but whether this is something that is going on everyday with people flying in from all over the world to take part is doubtful.
Seriously, if these hunts were happening frequently obviously he would be facing a lawsuit pretty quickly, and I'm sure he has no insurance for what he is doing.
I think what he is really after is the money from the video sales and the merchandise that you can conveniently purchase online. That is why he is loving the media coverage and brags about it on his web site. I think he saw how much the bum fight video made and thought this up to sell stuff online.

So I guess what I am saying is that whether he ever runs another "Hunt" he has already got exactly what he wanted - publicity to sell his video. Bum fights sold millions of copies and didn' t have this much publicity.
Hopefully he'll get too much publicity and outrage that his site gets taken down. It's been on and off all day, so I think he's been fending off some hacker attacks :p

Before they seemed to have taken down the site, I saw THIER version of= the news piece. The reporter said "The hunters get a special prize if they hit the ladies, but the organiser wouldn't tell me what it was."

And on the site, $10,000 got you a hunt, 4 days 3 nights hotel, and you got to "Stuff your kill (Not for virgins, you figure it out)", if I remember the text right. And that WAS on the web site

It's VERY posible that the news piece was 'staged' in the sense of making it more camera friendly. But it's alos 100% probable that the real thing isn't so 'staged'.

If oyu really want to see it : http://66.226.85.62/ That's the DNS entry. For a hoax, there's a LOT of investment into it (t-shirts, embroydered caps, and so on.) Matter of fact, take a look at THEIR version of hte news piece on the page.

I get the feeling that this is some guy who wanted to make some money figured that a new piece would get him publicity, and it exploded in his face. Now he's tryign to spin it that "there's not such tihng s abad publicity", but in reality he's lawyering up something fierce.
