May sound like a stupid idea, but maybe there should be a sort of 'chipping device' created. Understand?

if it was chipped, could come at a greater expence to let the company know that ownership of the marker, or board that has been chipped, has changed hands... and think how many people fill out warrenty cards, i doubt the paperwork would ever be finished. good in theory though

There sounded like a few things being nicked over the weekend as a couple of announcements went over the PA for stolen guns, I heard one for a DM6 and also G7 Fly.

sad but true :-(

I heard someone stole a bunch of good manners and Pedro is still looking for them...

there were teams that just left guns in the chrono station and forgot about them for a few hours, then came back and got them, they were quite lucky not to have them nicked
Thats a habit of the old school ballers who like myself keep forgetting that theft is now common place, where as years ago it happened but was as rare as me finishing a game live:eek: :D

as all serious markers are circuit board based and most people have pc's cant we have some way of connecting to a pc and have all peoples details in there. the details can be accessed by people but to make changes you need a pin. if you get the pin wrong 3 times it locks the board. i know the board can be changed but they are expensive and may put people off. all we would need to connect would be a port like on a digital camera.
i know there would be a lot involved in sorting this but it may be an option in the future
just an idea

Maybe manufacturers should start offering 'Lo Jack' style option as an extra when you buy a gat. It has a wondeful success rate with automotive vehicles, plus when the thieves get cought red handed with the goods they get what they deserve.

...or you could just handcuff yourself to your grip frame and never let it out of your sight

I think RFID would be one of the best options and not too expensive either, Tags are small enough to fit in grip frames, wallets, ID cards etc. Easy to Programme them to correspond with players ID numbers. When scanned on leaving the event if you have something that doesn't match the number on you player ID card it aint yours.

Reader / Writer $ 580
Tags $700 / 1000 tags depending on type...

Something worth thinking about, the whole kit for the price of one top end marker!
