Er.......hate to rain on your parade, but you are a tad wrong-ish...
When people talk about Russia, they mean Russia. When people talk about Ukraine, they mean Ukraine (no longer called The Ukraine, as it was called when it was no more than a region within the Soviet Union), when they dicuss Belorus, they mean Belorus....
Have a look at the news, Russia is never mistakingly used in place of some of the former members of the USSR...
