I think the poll indicates the general view ;)
I'm not trying to preach morality here but opinions based on experiences regarding groups of people have often lead to something known as racism. By racism I mean referring to certain groups of people as "rubbish" and not recognizing that there are many exceptions to the stereotypes and clichés.

Freedom of speech is great until that freedom is abused in such a way as to turn into crimes of hate and racial discrimination. I don't know about other countries but in Sweden and in USA racist slogans are punishable offenses.

Hearing individuals of certain nationalities slander other individuals based on national or racial prejudice just perpetuates the cycle of hate.

I sure as hell hope we go to all-pro reffing next year so this kind of BS will at least decrease.

Yeah, I understand. I miss those good ole days in Georgia when we could take the intellectually higher ground of cutting people down because they had the poor taste to be born in the wrong place, wrong time, and/or of the wrong parents.

Normally I'd let this go 'cus you know I love you, man, but--

A) actually you are and more to the point you're preaching your morality. That and it isn't racism, it's bigotry. (Even though you offered your own definition I think it's probably not a good idea for everyone to decide individually what they want words to mean. :) )
B) Which is essentially the introduction of Thought Crime and should hardly be hailed as an achievement in human progress. For the record racism and discrimination are active, not passive.
C) I'm guessing you don't want to hear my joke about the Jew, the Italian and the lawyer?
D) Who knew, all Pro reffing ends racism in our lifetimes! It's not only good for Paintball, it's our obligation to the people of the world. ;)

Love is all we need.:)

And I know how this is perceived out there and I know it's not popular to spoil peeps fun, but I have to say my piece anyway.

This really hit me hard the first time in Lisbon at my first Millennium X Ball event when some of the most stand-up guys who happen to be French and who happen to be great players and refs told me how the bigoted remarks against them because of their nationality was frustrating them almost to tears. They were being wrongly blamed by the losing teams for the bad reffing on other fields, just because it was their fellow countrymen who did the reffing. The remarks and "peace" signs they were on the receiving end of weren't so encouraging. So I volunteered to go on the field with them to help and see for myself. They were doing a professional job.

This same conversation has come up several times since then so I, being the crusader (I guess that's not a PC word these days) I am, want to do what little I can to resist it.

And I'm sure I am influenced at least a little by the fact that my wife is French and my two little children are half French.

So there! Got it off my chest.

I know that claims of bias, bigotry, national stereotypes and the paranoia that is so pervasive in PB won't disappear with the transition to all-pro reffing but it will help greatly because we won't have teams reffing for points who owe other teams favors (or revenge).

Now if we could just get some of the displaced Yankees to get off the keyboard I could continue with my finger-pointing and preaching.

Why?

Because they were asked to be moderators by me.

Other Paintball forums are available if we're not running ours to your taste.
