Just out of interest how many more people do the British have to build an army from compared to how many the Dutch had in 1939?
Its hardly surprising that the incredibly militaristic nation of Germany swept through Holland in 5 days when you take that into account.

Britain also has the added advantage that none of the other European states had, we are an island! Its really hard to drive a tank accross the channel, even if you are German!

As for the French, the only excuse they have is that they are pants But in their defence no one was ready for the Germans in Europe, Britain was just lucky enough to have the buffer of the sea.

to be honest, i dont know how you can say that, a lot of people and probably some of your family lost there lives to give us the freedom we enjoy, the wars should never be forgotten. if it embarasses you to be a brit...you should think long and hard about your life if we had been defeated and been under nazi rule,
never be embarassed to be a brit, those who lost there lives will be turning in there graves...i think you need to go and visit a war memorial and think about wot you have just wrote

if you read it it doesn't say im embarresed to be british, nor does it cast any aspersions that i think that people threw their lives away.

what it does say id that i find it embarrasing that britains constantly need to bring up the whole 'we saved your asses' in the ww2 when in fact many countries helped. so the argument that 2scoops made about we bailed you out etc etc is what i find embarrasing. we helped out sure and we may have done a lot of the work but we didn't do it all ourselves.
