I'm enjoying the debate

How would they know? Has the NPPL released any confirmed '06 dates beyond HB yet?

Yeh, I was thinkin' that as I read Missy's post and I was then gonna suggest 'great minds think alike' but I just couldn't undervalue myself so readily with the tag of 'great'.

Weren't the first two HB's in February and then last year in March? Or is it just this coming year's HB in March? I've no interest in actually checking but it seems to me that all the NPPL events haven't actually mirrored dates all along and a change of a week or two isn't really going to matter that much, is it? And with 6 events to schedule it plainly makes the odds of something more like direct competition harder to avoid.
Either way, I just got the impression from your remarks you viewed the tentative PSP schedule as some sort of thrown gauntlet and if the NPPL schedule with--how many events?--had come out first and done the same thing would you be saying it was incidental and not intended to be provacative? Just curious.

Seems to me another kind of competition in which a race to cover dates means the players get the info all that much sooner which isn't a bad thing. :)

I see your logic, although with the exception of the first year in HB I think dates have been pretty consistant , perhaps a better way of phrasing it would be 'typically the PSP chooses the same WC dates each year.'

If I was the NPPL, and I did see this as a gauntlet thrown (who knows if they do or not), I would use the PSP's format, and mirror every date in their calendar, then start and end the year in HB, but thats just me. I would have thought that seeing as the leagues are already talking, they would choose to accomodate each other a little better and perhaps even start sharing some resources. As the PSP dates are (in my opinion) a move in the opposite direction I am a little suprised.

I would expect the NPPL schedule to be no more than 5 events, but I expect that will become clear at the weekend at the captains meeting. The NPPL will wait until after the captains meeting to move forward, perhaps so that they can get the opinions of the players. The opinion of the industry is that fewer total events are wanted, which was another reason that the PSP's 6 event schedule suprised me a little.
