i did a essay on this for english, it cost the tax payer over £32,000 a year to keep a prisoner  it cost the tax payer to much and it would stop the prison overcrowding. i think that if it is as close to certian that some one has murdered then yes. instead of letting them live the rest of their life sentence building up a bill for tax payer to pay.

matty :)

bringing back the death penalty is not to be used to cut prison overcrowding, the number of people executed would do bugger all to the prison levels!

i can imagine prison being worse than being dead, having to watch our ass constantly, get treated like crap by guards and meals that look like, taste like and most probaly are sh!t.

i think the death penalty was a religious thing back when it first came about. would make sense, get killed, go to hell and be lucifers fun bag for the rest of eternity.

What happends to the guy who accidently kills someone, it was a brawl ,no serious harm was intended, just heated temper outside a night club, at home, in a church or even inside a chinese takeaway

We had a chat about this at work on Monday funnily enough. My personal feelings on it are a life for a life no matter what..

Regarding the above comment, yea its a brawl and there was no intent of actually killing the person, but there was still intent on causing that person some damage, so again i personally still think its murder.

I agree that the death penalty should be bought back.

Do they though?

A lot of prisoners have TVs in their cell and get a job inside to make then feel like they are "normal" again. Have a good group of friends. Yea you have to watch your back, but dont you have to on the outside too?

Prison is punishment, its like sending your kids to their room for being naughty and letting them play on the PS3 or watch TV..

Homicide law has different offences for situations depending on what was intended. I disagree with your opinion that intending to cause someone harm is still murder. How is that? Murder is intending to kill someone and in fact killing them. Don't confuse terms mate.

Edit : What if i'm in a brawl started by another group of lads. In that brawl i hit someone, he hits the ground, hits his head and dies. Would you still say a life for a life on that issue? Or would you agree that it should be manslaughter as the law stands today?

Its fair play mate, each to their own i suppose. I don't believe that it should be a case of life for a life where there is a lack of true fault.

As you say, its your opinion and you are definitely entitled to it
It isn't hard to deal with, merely hard to understand...anyone who takes a life, even accidentally, must pay with their life
Even being in favour of the death penalty, I find that hard to comprehend
