By popular request and as it says on the tin, some of y'all want to tear strips of each other in a 1:4:1 versus Penalty Point debate.

Here you goes.

The 3rd Annual 1:4:1 versus Penalty Debate, 2005.

What say you?

Are Penalty Points for numpties or the path to enlightenment.

or do you feel 1:4:1's are a sad reflection on a society where players can't control their urges.

Full contact, no holds barred, ultimate forum fighting and no submissions. Losers get kicked in the ding-a-ling (or am I taking things to far?)

1-4-1's all the way punishes the offending team start away instead of after the offence and at the next game giving the next apponents a advantage even tho they havent been cheated on and dont deserve the advantage

But in a league based system losing 50 points and a player in the next game (and possibly the next game as a result) is surely more harmful that simply losing one player in one game. Those 50 points benifit every team in the division. Taking one player off the field when a team is already 5 men up against 1 isn't really going to change the result of that game is it? It might stop you cheating there and then but it won't stop you if you can blow open that game and still be pretty much guaranteed a win.

Maybe keeping a 1-4-1 and also deducting 50 points (almost put pints there) and losing a player in the next game would satisfy people?

(just so I can say I contributed hehe)

The problem with playing a player down is that it gives the team they are playing against an unfair advantage for no reason at all. That team wasn't cheated against and yet they only have to play against 6 (and therefore more likely to win and score more points than the team that actually had the cheating done against them!!). The 1-4-1, 2-4-1, 3-4-1 rule is direct punishment which puts a pentaly against the offenders and helps the team that was cheated against in the game they were cheated against in!.

1-4-1's are easier for the spectators to see that an offending player has been punished. there not going to be able to see that a team has been given penalty points

Has to be a 1-1... no better punishement than seeing a key snake player pulled and flip out as he was about to do the whole field just because one of there team mates has tried to lose a hit!! :)
