2--Euroland may have done nothing to earn a different opinion to the one stated. But again, put Dynasty into a season of NXL and I believe the "punchbags" statement will be applicable to the NXL this time next year. It was a cheap shot and I treated it as such. I fully expect the NXL to be renamed the World Paintball Series next year, like the World Baseball Series, with only American teams participating. :p

3--For the record, the NXL clearly does not have the all best teams "out there"

4--I've always thought the use of "professional" with regard to paintball panders more to ego's than actually describing a standard..

5--Oh, and who's Chester? ;)
1--planning a career as Madame Cleo? (telphone fortune teller) Otherwise, just how cheap a shot was it when you keep using Dynasty as a defense? Last time I checked they were Americans, too.
2--no need. The N in NXL is national. The championship will be, of course, the World Championship.
3--true but not to your original complaint. Nor are the not-NXLs predominantly Euros.
4--you've been reading the 'View' again, haven't you? Admit it.
5--a generic Baca-ism.:p :D

1 - I apologise for using Dynasty.. next year I'll use Nexus ;)

2 - The championship may well be call the World Championship but as X-Ball is only played in the US, and currently doesn't appear to be officially sanctioned anywhere else, everyone else starts at a disadvantage. To all intents and purposes thay may as well rename the NXL now.

3 - I have no idea what the "View" is.. ;)

4 - I'll have to start a new thread.. "Baca-ism's 101" ;)

I think it is impossible to know who the best team in the world is right now. Triple crown, sure. Dynasty is amazing, I will grant you. But if they were playing in the NXL this past year, they would not have had the same record of success. They may indeed be the best in the world, but they are not so much better than the rest of the world's best teams that they would roll them over. Comparisons after the season we just had between Dynasty and the Oakland Assassins are like comparisons between Manchester United and the Marlins. They pay by different rules in different leagues, so comparisons are speculative.

We are paying more to play at the top level because that is what is required to play at the top level. We want to play the best because if you beat the best, what does that make you? I don't think most players share the same vision of catapulting the sport of paintball into the mainstream by hosting beauty contests and having s**** players' parties. I think most of us want grass, good reffing, adequate water, secure players areas, and stuff like that.

To me, it seems clear that the NPPL wishes to make things good for players, though I worry about the ability of PP to keep pumping in the money.

To me, it seems clear that the PSP wants to make paintball mainstream. That will mean some good things for players, but the interests of the average player are secondary.

The Millenium is years ahead of the American model in some ways, such as venues. The smaller player base will cripple the European competitive scene. The aversion to warlike pursuits in Europe is an obstacle to getting players into paintball in a casual way, which in turn reduces the number of players who get into paintball in a competitive way. If paintball the sport went mainstream, maybe the European scene could get people into competitive paintball directly, as the first awareness would be of the sport, rather than the soldier fantasy. That would make explaining competitive paintball less tedious, as well.

If the sport went mainstream in America then what does it matter to us in Europe as American football, baseball and basketball are all mainstream in the US but we don't see much of it over here and most people in europe couldn't even tell you what actually goes on in these sports. They certainly are not mainstream here.

So for the teams in Europe i think we should concentrate on europe, not many American teams travel here to play anymore and if it goes mainstream in the US then none will come and we will be left out in the cold and just like the three other sports i have mentioned we will not be allowed in when it comes to the world championships and such like.

Sorry, Jasper, I had assumed that sports coverage was exported to Europe. In retrospect, it seems obvious. I know a lot of TV stuff made here is view all over the world, and some European countries even have laws about how much American programming is permissible, and how much is mandatory domestic programming.
