Good point knobbs, that is indeed a problem.

I wouldn't propose that markers such as e-blades and angels come with such a lock, but rather the casual brass eagle markers that can be picked up at a wal-mart. I cant think of a situation where you could legitimately have 5 of those markers and no masks...they aren't made as backup markers but ofr the bottom rung entry level instead.

As for the point about the people who do infact use high level markers as tools for vandalism, then something needs to be done. I recall reading in PBUK about a lifetime banning for players responsible for shooting up a road-sign after a tournament. Perhaps measures like that and penalties for mask removal will prevent paintball being associated with the blinding of a player live on TV once we finally get on it.

Apologies for the sweeping statements about renegade ballers :) I'll put that to my upbringing in the UK where 1/4 of an acre is a signigicant property.

Hey Dicky, thanks for the backup. But, no offense intended to Jose or Jon as no offense was intended to me, I'm sure...

I probably shouldn't have used the 'crock' but this board is so much more friendly and intelligent that I forget and talk the same way I would to my buds when I'm hanging out. 'That's a crock' is something I wouldn't think twice to say to my friends and I don't think they would take offense to it. My fault.

I do agree there are differences in the scene, but I don't think that the basics of the people are that different, and I still think that it applies across the board. Maybe there's not alot of land to play on, but even if one half of one percent of the players happen to own land and want to use it to play paintball on, then that's their perogative and I don't think that they should pass it up because they aren't at a proper site. But I don't know the laws, so maybe it's just my Yank side talking. Over here, all to often the only difference between your backyard and a 'proper' site is the dude taking your money. :D

But, enough of that...peace all.

I suppose that the conversion of so many fields to a more tournie style of play has left a lot of the rec-ball/ camo wearing/ army playing types to find their own place to play, their way. Maybe this is an unintended consequence of the game "moving on"?

Incidentally, I am ignoring that whole part about JD and D6 wigging on each other to get back to the matter at hand. I know how it can be, but I don't care to read all that.

If you put to many rules and regulations on equipment and supplies that will force people out into the fields, backyards and basements- and thus - even more accidents.

Many manufactuers are creating better site/recreational gear. These new options are most cost efficent for the rec player and more what they need in their equipment. Think of the new JT site goggles (the full head ones, with the chin strap. I think DraXxus will be putting out a similar goggle soon, too.)

The key to reducing accidents is education. It sucks and it takes a sh*t load of time and money to do, but thats it.

Sites need to provide more information to enquiring customers, Marshals need to keep yelling at the kids (and adults) to keep their goggles on, manufacters and distributors need to make consumers aware of potienial dangers, and you guys the players need to keep a positive light on the sport. . . .

I was reading some stats put out by PROCAPS, and paintball is like the 3rd most played 'extreme sport' in America, and one of the lowest for injuries. . . we must be doing something right?!?!!!

Guys, to continue the whole goggle safety thing there is one thing that really does puzzle me... I went to a tournament the other week and saw lots of players watching games with their face about 1 inch from the netting... I know that netting takes the pace out of the shot but not instantaneously for poeple that should know better does make you wonder...
Or is this just me??
