In order to safeguard my equipment, especially the expensive stuff like markers and A.I.R. systems, I Laser Engrave my name and number onto an inconspicuous area of the product.

That way, should anyone steal it, then they will have to have the item re-anodised in order to sell it on without anyone becoming suspicious. Also an added bonus should the Police find it, they know who it belongs to.

Only draw back for this is if you want to sell it........ so it's no good for you marker pimps..:D

I'd gladly pay £1 to ensure my kit's safety, and i don't think an extra £5 per team is going to hurt anyone. Any tournaments near manchester and i'd be more than happy to do the gaurding too, seeing as i'm teamless ATM.

I would have suspected a paintballers with a weak conscience, but latter I heard that cars were actually being broken I to get at the stuff, I figured people were planning this. Admittedly it is a bit more serious, but it is a small comfort that it is less likely to be one of the players as it’s such not a crime of opportunity.
nope, it was a baller mate......... happened in the last 15 minutes of the presentation....... only a baller would know that was a safe time to start thieving.
Someone knows this piece of crap.

yup, and the cars that were done just happened to be those that stayed to watch.
Ours was , but we just lost some personal stuff, fweeks and one of the nexus lads (but they must have been disturbed).
It was either the worlds least careful car thief, or a rogue amongst us who knew what he was doing. It takes seconds to get into a car, so my money is on someone who left quickly and did it on the way to their own car, probably means more than one in on it as they'd want someone to watch the main car park.
Think about it, we are starting to get lots of new faces in paintball, which is great, it's my aim for this year, get the newbies in. But as our squads expand and the sport gets more well knows, we no longer have teams consisting of mates and people you've known for years.
Additionaly, the pikeys and twoccers of the UK have already clocked us as being an easy mark......... he he, paintballers...... they leave a grands worth of kit each, plus mobiles, plus game fees, pda's and car keys and wallets lying around with a canvas tent as security. As far as they are concerned, we are a bunch of idiots......... we are no longer protected by paintballs fringe status, the general population are begining to be aware of us, with legitimate interest comes the criminal element. Are we going to do anything about it? current tourney format means we do leave our kit......... I'm in the fortunate position to have a large squad, we can leave someone to watch kit......... how many teams have that luxury? do you all have someone willing to get up in the early hours, travel for three hours then stand in the cold all day to watch the kit?
How about we switch to 6 man sup air + 1 man watching the bags? because that's what we are talking about unless security improves.

You can always leave a team mate with the bags and kit, But how are we going to keep an eye on the cars????

Most tourny car parking is hectic at best. We need someone to be patroling the car park all day. Making sure people use keys to get into cars.

also means one of your players has to worry about looking after kit, rather than watching games and sorting markers/gassing up etc.....
This stinks, it really does. Why the hell should I pay to come and play then end up having to be security guard for part of the day?
