One lad was hit in the pack with enough force to put a hole in a pod! That to me sounds like not only a hot marker but a hot marker with spec ops paint! A sure fire recipe for disaster!
Possibly a hot marker with a hard paint but not spec ops, its not been on the market for over 12 months.

I'm guessing it was a lock lid that broke as some of the cheaper plastic pods ones are as hard as hell being made from thermoplastic, lock lids seem to be more polycorbonate which can become quite brittle.

Minus the toilets, (and my monsterous hangover) I actually quite enjoyed by first big game, highlights of the day for me were fending off in the region of 30 reds as they tried to charge the fortress we were in,
(3 particularly brave reds who tried to bunker me and failed :p) and then being so tired right after said enemy ass whooping that I decided to lean against the open window/grill and get my left arm lit up haha !
Although I did enjoy the day, I really do have to agree there were several points I did find irritating:
  • Only one 4500psi fill before you got 4000k if you were lucky !
  • No one Checking bottle expiry dates, which didn't really register until a couple of people passing by mentioned it to me.
  • Other than that I don't know about the enemies gripes as I was on the blues, our safe area was adquate, although some ********s did crush several tables at the party the night before.
As far as I know I saw lots of people chronoing, but there always be a few that are out to act stupid and piss people off, I mean how easy is it with a marker like an ego for instance to chrono, turn up your velocity as you walk off, and then put it into whatever ROF mode you want as you've got a little lcd screen computer in the grip lol, all you need is your fingers and an allen key.......
Its quite difficult to police every marker with that many people. Ironically the idiots with the ridiculously hard to break paint/marbles that thought those were a good idea .....haha not ! I lost count of how many bouncers I got, off of stupid places including: my goggles, hopper, and marker ! The clever people were using brittle paint that could still break over a long distance and finding places where they didn't have to shoot through branches and foliage ;). Anyhow, for my first big game experience, I enjoyed it thoroughly, would I go back ? maybe.... but next time probably somewhere closer to home.

i have to agree.....

even though we were the leaders of the winning faction, we are certainly mulling over some of the points from the game.

most of us paid £4 for 4.5k air fills (2x bottles each) - the 4.5k fill happened first thing in the morning and that was it. the bottles weren't checked - either for conditon/age or 4.5k fill tags. and the fees were to cover the fact that they were supposedly professionally manned at all times? does that include the guy from paramina who would have been there anyway?

5 toilets ??? guideline suggest 5 for a 6 hour event with 500 people + ideally 2 more for an event with alcohol. considering the toilets were used from friday night to sunday evening...........

8 factions but only 2 shirt colours made it more difficult to distinguish people when trying to complete faction objectives. the differing faction sizes would've made faction objectives more difficult to complete as well.

wiping. it happens - always has always will - unless there is a motivation for not doing it. which there wasn't. i even got wiped clean by a marshal in the middle of a lull in a fire fight after i failed to spot a hopper hit

pyro - seemed to have no relation to the gameplay (?)

and i'd agree the teleport pad was easier for us to hold after taking it - tho it took some time to do. further down field somewhere would have been a better location.

and don't get me started on invincible borg.

on the whole though there were some good moments and some very good exchanges of fire - although while standing in the middle of the mine i lost count of the number of bouncers that came off my legs - one of them still hurt even at stupid range....and it was nice weather!

and lets not forget the charity raffle and auction at the end of the day.

all in all tho i have still yet to find a perfect big game....tho mahlwinkle comes close ;)

Yes,now its an attack on anyone with less that 10 posts on that forum. They all find it "amazing" that people with less than 10 posts are the only ones with a problem .Could it possibly be that people have only joined up to post their bad experiences, surely not :rolleyes:The people who ran the event were more than happy to promote the event on these forums. Now we have negative comments, they are nowhere to be seen.Anyone going to post comments on a forum they frequent more often is shot down in flames .Now is it just me or does anyone else think they are hiding from the problems raised?

I will not have this site used to promote events that (allegedly) fall way short of safety, hygiene and value for money ....and it's incumbent upon the two guys who ran this event to come on here and answer the criticisms .......

If they do not respond, then I will assume they are ducking the issues and will not be welcome on this site any more ....

Last year if you were shot out you had to go back to the respawn, register and re-chrono then you got a token to drop through the stargate (which was open for 10 minutes ever hour) i believe the the opposing team got x points for a registered kill and your team got x points for every token dropped. There was the incentive for not wiping which wasn't there this year

I called Steve Bull and he will be alerting these two guys to my request and so hopefully we can get the other side of coin and clear up some of these accusations.

We've just got back from the event and I've spent the last couple of hours having a read of the forums. There is obviously a lot of feedback from the event.

Anyone who knows us (admittedly less on this forum than on others) will know that we'll duck nothing - give us a day to pull together all the comments from all the forums and we'll post up our thoughts.
