plus you are missing out a whole realm of sponsoship with tied purchasing for a site. A lot of guys on teams run sites or shops, so sponsors will often say "give me the business from your shop/site and your team plays for free". To the shop it's often not a bad deal as they are spending the cash somewhere yet getting the team stuff free, but the sponsor has just captured tens of thousands of income.

i think if you were sponsored by out of industry stuff it would start getting to the way football is, having the sponsors name as the biggest feature on the top bar the player number. n also having their name printed all over the teams home field... but then you gotta start worrying about having your own home field

Seriously I don't even understand why paintball companies "sponsor", and I use that term loosly, most teams on the circuit. I mean its very nice of them, but 95% of them dont deserve it.

Take for example, any team lower than Div 1 Millenium. 100% of them have some sort of discount/sponsorship/free squeegee deal and yet 95% of them won't amount to anything, and a marked percentage will split up and disband within a year or two. Whats the point? What do they get out of giving a team something for absolutely nothing. Its a hobby to all of us.

Theres maybe 5 teams in the world that can say its not first and foremost a hobby.

Talking about incentivised buying is fine. This usually works out for both parties. The team can buy kit at a lower cost while the shop will still make a profit as the team should be buying a higher volume of goods to compensate for the lower margin being earned. On this basis incentivised buying should be offered to as many people as possible, ESPECIALLY new teams who need to buy a lot of basic kit to deny these profits to competitors. Also by offering this to a lot of people you are bound to have a few place on a podium and give you some free marketing into the bargain.

The funny thing is that those teams that are new and do get podiums position or mention of sponsor in print are actually getting relatively less as they are not only buying kit but giving free marketing and PAYING their sponsor for the privilege!! Now, I have to admit I don't have a lot of knowledge of what such marketing is worth which is the purpose of this thread. Those who know pls SHARE with your fellow teams so they don't miss out.

OMG! You have just identified the first step. :) You're not really slow, you're just naive. Seriously, that is the first thing any team should work out.

F**k All buddy
You Think people actually pay atention to novice position speaches.
sorry to disappoint you.
My advice is
Sell that £1400 pound gat of yours
get something cheaper
Buy paint with money
Shoot Fools
Get Better

My opinion, if half the teams spent more time playing and stop pretending their some companies marketing wet dream then the standard would improve. Stop wasting time and go play some ball.
Its no coincidence that the teams that are heavily sponsored at the moment are the same guys who just got on with playing and ignored all this crap.
Very few teams deserve anything . (notive the full stop)
Sorry to sound harsh but its the truth

Ed - I would think that Div 2 + 3 teams placing at major events have a neglible effect on sponsor revenues. So much so that selling below cost on the behalf of the sponsor to said team would not be economic.

Pro team endorsement and quality products carry far more weight I am sure (as seen at the birth of the Angel and also maybe now at the birth of the Ego?)

An interesting question would be how sponsors account for their sponsorship $$$ - are any able to write this off against their tax liability?

Edited for Grammar

Yes I do hold the opinion that lower division teams are aware of what the teams winning their division use and may be influenced by it. Obviously not as much as influence as a "PRO" team generates but still some. The value of this should be diminished to acknowledge not that many people are as influenced which I don't deny.

As to things like mentioning of brands in print or having a clear shot of a logo on jersey in print this also has value as the same number of readers are going to see it. Again not as valuable as a "PRO" team showing it's but still brand marketing which is a commodity.

Gat cost closer to £600 btw, we will be attending the next 4 legs of Millenium in order to shoot fools and we train drills at least once a week on a sup air field, do sliding practise in the park and fitness work. But this thread was not intended to talk about my team.

Kris, this is a forum where we can discuss paintball related things when not playing paintball. Not too many opportunities to play sup-air here in Kilburn at 00:25 on Sunday so forgive me for talking to the community in my spare time. Thanks :)
