anyways, even if it IS a lawsuit, as long as someone has proof of a technology being used PRIOR to being patented there's no chance on earth they will lose. And this patent is dated april 2007, ages after the mini was out.
Oh how I laughed at that statement... have you seen the state of American patent laws??!! Prior art don't come into it half the time...

This looks more like a patent application and not a lawsuit..

A good quote from the nation...

"patenting the route the air takes is just stupid, might as well patent a car having 4 wheels"

haha
Its actually a continuation of a patent filed in 2004, which was submitted in 2007.

[0001] This application is a continuation-in-part of, and claims priority from, copending U.S. patent application Ser. No. 10/869,829, filed Jun. 15, 2004, the contents of which are hereby incorporated herein by reference in their entirety.

In essence what they are saying is:
We just remembered that when we filed our patent several years ago, we actually invented a load of other stuff that we forgot to put down on paper. We only just realised 3 years on when someone else invented it.

For perspective on how much they actually look at the patents they approve, Id like to list some other filed and approved US patents taken from patently absurd website:

The remote controlled horse.
The extreme combover
Mmm The cheese filtered cigarette

As Skeet has already mentioned, there was a gas-thru grip for the Automag back in the early-mid 90s. Think Sosta marketed it.

Come to think of it, Tippmann Pro-Am had a gas thru frame as well, so a fair few prior art examples.

BAD TO THE BONE
There's plenty of other manufacturers to choose from, at the moment
Businesses are always trying to screw eachother, its called the real world.
The cake's not that big and everyone wants a slice. Hence, (rightly or wrongly) the paranoia about patents.

Everyone has the right to protect their products / ideas. But there is a mentality of some who think that if they had been around earlier they would have invented it (whatever) in any case....eventualy.

I'm sure that one of my ancestors invented the sling shot. The first gadget that projected a missile to it's target. From which all projectile fireing gadets are based. Therefore eveyone owes me a lot of dosh.
See you in court :D

I think there was a gas-thru for a phantom pump if memory serves me right, not sure if Hook Gun Company didn't make it.Think it must have been around 91,i can remember seeing a picture of it in an old pgi years gone by.

SP are so greedy it's unreal! If Kee Action Sports can prove that the design had been in production and been used before the patent was formed then they should win.

Anyone fancy a Boycot????

If SP win then I will try to never buy an SP product ever again! Business is a harsh world but not only are SP wrecking another company for financial gain but they are also hurting paintball as an industy:mad: Iam sure that SP will lose more finance than they gain purely because of people not buying their gear/markers e.t.c if SP win against Invert.
