Might just work

At the risk of being right (again)...

I think if he takes on an extra member of admin staff to run events under him, Bully has a good enough system in place to run a mirror series. But as a couple of you have said, there is an issue of the north and the south almost being two separate countries when it comes to paintball.

The best way to combat this is to run the two separate series, and then the top four teams from each series at the end of the year get to play one last event - XBALL. The rest of the teams who didn't make it go to watch while steadily getting wrecked and cheering on their mates, all in preparation for the double size Series 2002 Presentation evening which takes place that same evening.

If non qualifying teams are too lazy to go and support their mates who have qualified for the XBall event (which would be very disappointing) then we could run stuff like 1 on 1, target shoot, mixed 2 on 2 games or whatever to keep people occupied. The finale day is more of a festival than anything.

Thoughts?

Yeah

Like it was his idea...

Joe thought of it. Only Joe's version involved everyone having to wear a dress...

Gentalmen as I have said I have spent the last 18 months researching this. After a lot of nagging the other organisers and I have also been discusing other possiblitys we have had meetings set up commettees ect. Ie end of serise finals for all four leauges we now have.

Just because it's not public knowledge dosen't mean it's not happening.

It would be nice to be suported in this.

Those who are involved and have been consulted have been very suportive. Iam not alone in this.

Mr Big shame on you we have already spoken about this.

no shame on me. I have an idea that I think is a good one and I put it down in writing. It's down to you and other organisers to sort out who does what. I did also write in my post that someone else may have to run the events. That could be you?

Reason people are suggesting Bully is he has the best and most proven track record in UK paintball. And I agree with them. No one's withdrawing support from you, they're just bashing out other ideas as well - which is always a good thing.

Instead of getting on the defensive, why don't you think about taking some of the ideas onboard? I was trying to be helpful, as is everyone else. There are lots of smart heads around - use them, don't get offended by their suggestions.

I think the reason that Sparklie's a bit miffed in this thread is that it started with Ledz suggesting the southern series as though it was a whole new idea, whereas she's been working on this for quite a while now.

Smart ideas are always welcome & I know she much appreciates some of the constructive suggestions that have already been put forward by various people over the last few months. She knows full well that Bully runs the best series in the UK right now & has discussed some things with him (e.g. venues), taking advantage of his experience.

There were also some meetings arranged with the organisers of the other series in the UK (Midland Masters & SWPL) to discuss some form of championship between the winners of each, though the different "seasons" & formats (e.g. 7 man vs 5 man, how the divisions are decided) may make for some interesting compromises.

Something like this takes a while to set up if we want it done properly (as I'm sue we all do). There has already been a lot of interest from the industry & various sponsorship deals have been set up. With Moose agreeing to be the series ultimate, and the old Gulo Lucius crew who do the marshalls training on board as field ultimates, just about the only remaining things to be done are the venues and dates finalised. Even the set-up & clean-up crews have been sorted!

So you can probably see her point in being a little bit defensive here - all the hard work she been putting in over a long period of time & it seems like nobody has taken any notice at all.
