If what you are saying is true, than how come teams are competing with them?Originally posted by matski
You cannot compete with the Russians with just 'lots of dedication and paint' if that dedication and paint is restricted by budget and time......The Russians feel none of these restrictions and this is what everyone is talking about as the catalyst to becoming a superpower....They have dedication, paint, everyday of the week, and a job their paid to do right.....(learn how to shoot you in the face more efficiently)..
absolutly not. But it will cost a hell of a lot of money, and i think it's going to take a few more ass kickings before it really sinks in, and somebody says, 'we have to do it like the russians'. To put in the required time, the players, coaches and trainers will have to be full time. The paint will have to be unlimited... i heard the number 1 million balls per month for Russian Legion, (don't nobody quote me on that though, it could be total bs) and the cost of a perminant training facility. And you can't have players spread all over the country. However much that costs... well that's what it will take to beat RL in the next 12 months.Do you think it is beyond the "budget and time" of top US pro teams to have a player put in 30 hours of practice a week?
Yeah, all I was looking for was individually.Originally posted by matski
Individually possibly some could squeeze in 30 hrs, but as a full team like RL? No.....
Yeah, that's why I posted in the thread, because I really don't think that is all necessary. If you are building a team from mostly scratch...certainly...but that's not what these teams are. Na ja, time answers many questions.Originally posted by Red_Merkin

It is, but the NXL is treating it like an exhibition...I actually think they are calling it one. The NXL has a play-off amongst itself, and then after all that, we play the EXL teams.Originally posted by Red_Merkin
It could be a prelude to the World Cup EXL/NXL play off (if that's still happening).
Weekdays: Arise; Shag; Eat; Work; Eat; Work; Eat; Paintball; Shag; SleepOriginally posted by matski
You know what I mean man, squeeze in 30 hrs of practise a week, plus physical training, with a day job?...When do you sleep, eat and shag? You'd be a wreck after a month of that, its unsustainable, and whatever you do, you won't be able to keep putting 100% into every practise cos you'll be too worn. The average person works like 37 hours a week, to make up the kinda hours for practise your talking about, and sustain it realistically, you gotta be a professional..
Absolutely right and even when you suggest that perhaps Nexus and Joy maybe one of the few teams who can realistically react to the Russian win, it's still gonna be exremely difficult and is really all down to the commitment and drive of the players on board.Originally posted by Just Curious
Yup. Points taken. But would you agree that to the majority of UK/Euro/US Teams, RL win in the USA will have no real impact? (apart from the smug satisfaction ) And that the top Euro Pro Teams such as yourselves and the likes of Joy are really the only ones in a position to try to achieve/build on what the Russians have started.
Cheers
