Yeah he does 'funnily enough'.....but I can't see how you suggest what Pete has said is exactly the same as you, your missing half the point....

You cannot compete with the Russians with just 'lots of dedication and paint' if that dedication and paint is restricted by budget and time......The Russians feel none of these restrictions and this is what everyone is talking about as the catalyst to becoming a superpower....They have dedication, paint, everyday of the week, and a job their paid to do right.....(learn how to shoot you in the face more efficiently)..

Nexus is the best backed team in Europe, robbo has done a great job with them in a short space of time, but like he said, when you finally squeeze every drop you can out of your budget and time, all you can do is look for new angles, niches, to improve from. I like the idea of physical fitness training, people need to get their fat asses moving:D, thats 1 area theres no excuse for and you can tell RL are the most athletic team...

Grendal-don't stir the mak d he gets rowdy, he'll be challenging you to a 1on1 with money on it soon..hey mak;)

If what you are saying is true, than how come teams are competing with them?

Do you think it is beyond the "budget and time" of top US pro teams to have a player put in 30 hours of practice a week?

Yeah dude of course their competing, but getting mown too. Im not just talking about now, how about in a years time if everybody else does nothing? I know this aint true cos the US teams are gonna want their silverwear back....

Few, if any US team has the backing and time that RL have, many have day jobs in the industry. No US roster, has an entire roster of players whos job IS the team. They will often practise close to home then fly/drive in from various states for team practise at weekends and head off against other power-house teams.....Individually possibly some could squeeze in 30 hrs, but as a full team like RL? No.....(as they stand at the moment anyhow)..

absolutly not. But it will cost a hell of a lot of money, and i think it's going to take a few more ass kickings before it really sinks in, and somebody says, 'we have to do it like the russians'. To put in the required time, the players, coaches and trainers will have to be full time. The paint will have to be unlimited... i heard the number 1 million balls per month for Russian Legion, (don't nobody quote me on that though, it could be total bs) and the cost of a perminant training facility. And you can't have players spread all over the country. However much that costs... well that's what it will take to beat RL in the next 12 months.

I guess we'll see in a few weeks, because Trauma and Philly are playing an exhibition match at CC, against the RL. It will be a good match no doubt, the outcome will be pretty important, because this is the first time we've seen Philly play outside the NXL. It could be a prelude to the World Cup EXL/NXL play off (if that's still happening).

GK, if i didn't post that, some dim wit will call the office tomorrow demanding to know why... somebody will take you seriously
 :D

Yeah, all I was looking for was individually.

Yeah, that's why I posted in the thread, because I really don't think that is all necessary. If you are building a team from mostly scratch...certainly...but that's not what these teams are. Na ja, time answers many questions.

It is, but the NXL is treating it like an exhibition...I actually think they are calling it one. The NXL has a play-off amongst itself, and then after all that, we play the EXL teams.

You know what I mean man, squeeze in 30 hrs of practise a week, plus physical training, with a day job?...When do you sleep, eat and shag? You'd be a wreck after a month of that, its unsustainable, and whatever you do, you won't be able to keep putting 100% into every practise cos you'll be too worn. The average person works like 37 hours a week, to make up the kinda hours for practise your talking about, and sustain it realistically, you gotta be a professional..

Weekdays: Arise; Shag; Eat; Work; Eat; Work; Eat; Paintball; Shag; Sleep

Weekends: Shag; Eat; Paintball; Eat; Paintball; Eat; Shag; Sleep

Seriously though, I know what you mean. It would take some serious dedication. ;)

Yup. Points taken. But would you agree that to the majority of UK/Euro/US Teams, RL win in the USA will have no real impact? (apart from the smug satisfaction:D ) And that the top Euro Pro Teams such as yourselves and the likes of Joy are really the only ones in a position to try to achieve/build on what the Russians have started.

Cheers
Jimmy
Absolutely right and even when you suggest that perhaps Nexus and Joy maybe one of the few teams who can realistically react to the Russian win, it's still gonna be exremely difficult and is really all down to the commitment and drive of the players on board.
If they really wanna get to the top, and I mean, REALLY wanna get there, then midweek personal training will become an (and have to) integral part of their lives, if not, then we got no chance.
