Gotta go with Nulod on this one. It's all about the speed. I keep on the thrust until my torso hits horizontal and then push off with whichever foot touches next and let the speed carry me through a soft landing. Nothing hurts worse than a slow person bellyflopping behind a bunker. If I was slower, I would give serious thought to practicing using my marker as a mobile, paintflinging bunker and not worry about injuring myself trying to emulate some 140 pound bunker monkey travelling at lightspeed.;)

With what? Your hopper is empty (per my post :)) and I won't give you time to reload :D

It's okay to run with an empty hopper in 10-man, 'cause you usually end up hunkering down anyway for a bit, but 7-man tends to be a bit more dynamic. At the last 7-man I was in, there were two long bukers parallel to each other on either side of the 45, and I was supposed to bump to the one on my side and then shoot for the tube on the tape, but I saw my mirror either doing the same thing or he was supposed to post up to shoot me...he didn't have his gun up when he saw me and then tucked in so I didn't stop, I just ran across the 50, shot him, then went to the other side of the tube and shot his teammate on the tape...all within 5-10 seconds of the start. I don't know if he had an empty hopper, but he certainly had a chance to post up on me and shoot...I fired at him on the run, but that was more to tuck him in and prevent him from making life hard for me...I've also been forced to do a fast crawl down a snake, twards someone who knew I was coming 'cause I had to shoot on the "run" as I rounded every elbow/bend to stop him from shooting me as I crawled to him...I screwed up though when I got to the last bend, and tried to do him over the top, my front foot slipped and I missed him and he knew I was going to do him so he got me several times before my body hit the ground...all on the show tape :( But I looked good getting there :D

PS Bluelite: Sometimes that mobile bunker in your hands is very usefull, especially if you're a slow crawler or you got alot of ground to cover :)

HOLD FAST!
After reading through all 5 pages of posts, no one has said about protecting your manhood! At the last M25, maybe i'm the only unfortunate one to ever do this, but I slid into the snake on one game and didn't quite bend my legs properly, and smack!
So yeah, make sure that doesn't happen, or wear a box

But surely if you were wearing a box, although the crown jewels themselves wouldn't get squished, you end up with plastic pressing into your groin, probably leaving a very interesting bruise. And because its plastic, it wouldn't give a little, and so be more likely to happen. How did you do it? Sounds a bit like a belly flop to me. :p

Re-reading this reminded me of a friend on another team...he was probably 280 lbs at the time, and a backman (duh) and he saw me bunker one of his back teammates by ducking low, underneath his teammate's stream of paint and shooting him out, so on another game (John's name will go unmentioned...oops!) his squad was cleaning up the other team fairly quickly, and this unmentioned friend was the closest guy in the race to bunker the last guy, so he went low around the standup tube and tripped and hit the ground...hard...at a full run. He shot the guy out, but as his boss was one of the people he was racing against, to steal the bunker move, and he lost 3 weeks of work 'cause he hurt his shoulder, his boss wasn't pleased... :(

I can slide on my front, but i think it's faster on my knees- i find it easier to judge the distance 'cause when i try to do a superman, i find that i end up going past, or even under my bunker (sooo not impressive)

man, sliding head first on your back would be verging on matrix stylee:D since campaign when i did my first superman dive, i can safely say that i believe this is better and easier than sliding on your knees, unless your running to a not particularly dangerous spot and u can get your legs in quick enough;)
