Hmmm Sliding really isnt all its cranked up to be......

The way the games changed means you have to keep people in their barricades, giving them as little opportunity as possible to snap shoot you back inside yours. The way in which your positioned as you get to your barricade is becoming allot more important, you need to be the first one 'out', keyed up and firing on your opponent. This means that all he can do is keep tight or be forced to use the other side of the barricade, theres not much he can do for his team while your shooting at him.
On the other hand if you go diving into your barricade face first, by the time you get yourself together and ready to actually start participating in the game, the best teams will be out and keeping you inside your barricade........its domination baby.
You watch the Russkies play, youll notice as they go sliding into their barricades, their guns will be up and firing, trying to control the game from the word go.

Sometimes it works, sometimes headfirst is the way. Some front players will fly into their primaries to literally stay low for a while, listening to their back players before firing.

Like Bud said it also depends on field layout of course.

Well the post has achieved what it set out to do. Some ppl have stated that "some ppl dive when they don't need to" which basically affirms my belief.

As far as diving as a useful move at times, agreed no questions asked. I use both. I'll dive when I have to get that hell bend possie at the 50 the size of a postage stamp with no blind cover and streams of paint coming in. Usually when I'm going to the 30 I'll knee slide, marker up and their front guys going to the 30+ won't know what hit them. I'm at the 30 1-2 seconds faster that most other front guys here in NZ. Combine this with a blind spot, knee slide, marker up (Depending on the length of the field) my paint is getting to them at just the right time.
