I don't like putting my packs in the washing machine, so I fill the bath up from the hot tap, and use a capful of persil. I then chuck in my pack and swabs as well. Leave for a while, swirl about every now an then, then drain the water and rinse with the shower head.

I soak nearly all my gear (minus pants and all my undergear) in a bowl of lukewarm water with some washing liquid (Surf Concentrated to be exact :D) leave it for 30mins to an hour often stirring and making sure the gear is submerged as my pack tends to float. After that I take it out spray it down to get any of the painty water off then quickly handwash everything with clean water which is when I clean my swabs too, clean water handwashing does the trick for me.

It may seem like a stupid question but we all have to start somewhere...... Do you have to clean your battle swabs for your barrel? if so do I just throw it in the washing machine?

Thanks
There are no stupid questions... Just stupid answers... Or is it the other.way around? Lol

I would be careful putting a barrel swab in the washing machine as did it with one and the stitching started to come apart on the swab end causing it to fall apart.
