About banning and censorship

I don't think this ban can be considered to be the same as censorship. And I don't think Pete is doing it because someone happens to disagree with him. Jeez, if people'd get banned every time someone disagreed with Pete, a whole lot of people would have been kicked off this board. This was more a matter of morality and courtesy.
It's like when people come over to your house and say similar things about your friends. Would you allow those guests to stay in your house?

I'm saddened to see that it came this far, when the matter could have turned out differently. But at the same time I'm happy to see that there are still people willing to stand up for what they believe is right, it's just a shame that it came to this point. And I seriously hope that Sergei and the rest of the Legion will not be dispirited by what has been insinuated about them. I for one still have a lot of respect for what they represent.

Here we go again!
Another post that's someone's 'first' post, and it's a controversial one. Yeah right, like anyone would believe that this person is new to these boards. More likely it's just someone that is afraid to say what he feels under his 'real' name. Spineless is the word that comes to mind.
I tell you one thing though, I ain't having it! I've said it numerous times in other controversial threads, so the post I'm talking about will be axed in 5...4...3...!
It is allowed to disagree with Pete on banning Manike. It is allowed to say so. But have some freaking balls and don't punk out like some spineless, gutless wimp, and hide behind a new name like a little b*tch! Be a man/woman!

This has nothing to do with censorship. It has everything to do with standing up for what you say. You have to admit that when somebody posts for the first time and it's a controversial one, it's a bit suspect. Lately we've been having a lot of people logging in under a new name, just so they could post controversial stuff without revealing their identity. That's why your post got deleted.
Maybe your case is different, I don't know, since we've never met. But I hope you understand my motivations. I'm not out to censor anything or anyone, like I said, people can disagree as much as they want for all I care. I'm just out to keep these forums clean. So consider what happened collateral damage, nothing personal. It was one of those things that make me go hmmmm, but in a negative way.

... your concerns, and I agree that it looked suspect. I still don't think it was right, but I don't hold that against you (or anyone). I do believe what I've said befor, though, that Robbo and Manike should settle this in a private manner, and this thread (and the first thread on this subject) should be deleted, as it is no longer about the issues. I commend you for 'exposing' yourself by posting up your phone number and name.
You are entitled to your opinion, and now that we are 'familiar', I have no inclination to do any deleting. That would be contradictive to what i said earlier. As far as I'm concerned there is no problem between us.
By the way, if Robbo and Manike manage to settle their affair in any which way, I'm all for that too.

Well, it's (virtually) all over now. (unless we wanna go down the whole 'Censorship argument).

Robbo has made his decision and thats that. Like it or not Manike has gone (for a while at least).

The only thing I want to add is that arguments/ debates like these do actually 'spice' up the board. Everyone likes watching or taking part in argument. (like the "phenomenon" of Jerry Springer or some such).

It's certainly bought me back to P8ntballer, even though most new threads now seem to run in the 'which marker should I buy' category. Vital to p8ntballer, but not a reason to come back (unless of course your buying/selling).

I check this board two or three times a day, and for the first time in months I actually got involved in something.......

your well within your rights to ban anyone you damn well want to but I personally feel that people should be able to voice their insipid opinions even to display their own ignorance. and a libel claim can only be brought when one makes a statement that they know to be untrue at the time that they make the statement
