Congratulations Robbo, there is no other European team I'd rather see in the NXL. I'll be pullin' for you guys this year.
Might be a little premature as I have said before, I have not yet made my final decision because it's not so much as whether I would 'like' to (all of us on Nexus want to play NXL) but has more to do with now having to finance a 14 man squad that has player bases both sides of the Atlantic.
The only way I can do it in the time frames imposed upon us is to have Tony Perez create and maintain a five man squad over in the US and for us (Nexus) then to be represented by our Brit squad and Yank squad at NXL's.
Tony is coming back to me today with a viability plan with regard to creation and maintenance costs for the year.
If those costs fall outside of our financial structure then I won’t be able to take up the offer
I have another option of going back to our sponsors and asking for more money to help my position but I ain’t gonna be doing that because I believe that would be inappropriate due to the present financial circumstances Stateside.
I am extremely grateful to certain people who have been instrumental with this NXL offer and they who know they are………
The irony of all this was the PSP / NXL have been on the sharp end of my critical tongue with regard to tourney promotion for a long time now and it seems perverse to me that these guys understood the benefits of having Nexus on board and offered me a truly fantastic and generous deal, and yet .....well, I'll let you lot work out what the irony is...
