Rumor or trial balloon?

The word is the NPPL is planning on relegating 3 Pro Division teams as per the norm at the end of the season but only planning on bringing up one promotion.
So, if this ain't correct why hasn't the NPPL--the league with the mostest press releases--denied the rumor directly? Could it be the rumor was put out by the NPPL to see how peeps would react to it so they could gauge the public response?
Does the rumored move to 16 Pro Division teams portend other changes beyond the ones that would affect the Semi-Pro bracket?
And what's the point for most of the teams in the "closed" Semi-Pro bracket to keep coming back if they have no opportunity--or virtually no opportunity. It could very easily end up looking like the PSP's Division 1.

Look to see an expanded pro league to 24 mate...to facilitate those teams in the NXL who haven't already got a NPPL pro spot.

Speaking of, why haven't they denied the "Chuck belongs to a sadistic baby eating cult" rumor that's been circulating lately.

Man, there's gotta be something behind that if they haven't said anything.

All journalists should live by one simple maxim: Never believe anything until it has been officially denied.

Therefore, the rumour is bollocks.

Also, a rumour isn't a proper rumour unless its been in PGi or on P8ntballer.com News, so...

Pete, I have little doubt on that score but it doesn't negate the important part of the rumor. In fact it some ways it supports it.
A--the possible new league alignment needs x number of slots.
B--the current relegation/promotion scheme may not allow sufficient flexibility to serve the "greater good" hence the prospect of modifying the existing procedure.
End result is Semi-Pro teams operating under one set of expectations and forces outside their control conspiring to screw them.

dissent--everybody knows Chuck doesn't eat the babies, he sells them into slavery. There's no cash in eatin'em.

Duffy--you're just jealous I come up with all the good stuff. :p

Bottom line - NPPL doesn't deliver the 3 teams promo deal, the lawyers will have a field day. It will happen, you can put your trailer on it...:p

Would the NPPL face legal challenges if they let in more than 3 teams? That would arguably diminish the value of a pro spot as well as dimenish the effort/expenditures of the top 3 semi pro teams. Course, they can do what they want because it's a private organization right? If you don't like it, vote with your dollars and leave. I'd be surprised if they did anything other than stick to letting the top 3 teams in. I really like the idea of the relegation/promotion system, inspite of the fact that it necessitates the unfortunate "semi pro" league.

This same rumor was brought up at the end of last season too, but 3 were moved around. My money is on it staying the same, 3 up and 3 down.

Contract

The paperwork being sent back & forth between the NPPL/Pure Promotions and the Pro team owners originally stipulated that there would be 3 teams relegated and 1 team promoted. However, both the Pro team owners and Pure Promotions stated a desire to change this back to the way it was last year (and this opinion was stated independently of one another).

I don't know what document governs this sort of thing (rule book?) or if there even is a document to govern this, but the presently (verbally) agreed upon best course of action provides for 3-up and 3-down going into 2007.

If Robbo and Jeff are both correct, how do you think it will be handled if, for example, the Raider's semi-pro team places high enough for promotion?

Looks like they may be in regardless of how they place in semi-pro...so does that mean 4 teams could be promoted, or that they cut the league off at 23?
