Remote Procedure call errors

no sure about the service pack, think the last time i downloaded anything for ie was a year ago!

i have just tried manually running live update and that looks fooked too, live update was set disabled, my virus definitions file is corrupt and it wont run live update at all, is telling me to reinstall live update......


arse!

Go to regedit(start-run-regedit) then go to HKEY_LM - Software - Microsoft - Windows - CurrentVersion - Then click on the run folder icon.....anything in there that shouldn't be? Disable anything you dont need and reboot.

Sounds like you have a nasty virus Matt :(

If it won't let you run your virus software I suggest you go to www.pandasoftware.com and use the active scan utility. Unlike other online scanners this one actually repairs/deletes infected files when appropriate :)

this is why i hate computers sometimes! bloody things

ok i have looked at the file phil mentions and it might as well be in japanese for all the sence it makes to me......so i had a look at pandasoftware....and it seems to freeze when i click on the button to active the active scan

Sounds like one of those viruses to me that stops certain .exe files from running, crafty beggars. List up your files in the run folder mate and it will be pretty easy to spot what is running that shouldn't be. From that I should be able to e-mail you the virus removal tool from Symantec to remove the offender.
