There are two types aren't there, the soft one you can play with and the hard one that has more similar flight properties to a normal paintball, for training.

I'm sure the soft one is safe to fire at a mask as you use it at your site, but i was wondering about the hard one, what affect does that have on lens. I know it's not ment for firing at people, but i was just wondering in the case of an accidental shot.

Positive angles or not the responsiblity for the legality of a product is down to the seller. If a case goes to court and proves against Reballs then the whole paintball marker market will be under scrutiny and the result will be (worst case) that paintball in the UK is banned wholesale. 2nd case senario is that paintball will be classified as needing a licence of some description, now not trying to slur any paintballers on these boards or elsewhere but a fair few will be unable to get that licence due to past indescretions, where as currently they don't have any issues. A test case is needed but to be honest not wanted, our situation within the UK is in a grey enough area as it is without further complications. Take a quick trip back in time and all the Phantoms that were imported to the UK had the bolt internals reversed so that if test fired they would fire at about 150 fps, also original auto mags were all shipped as parts and then assembled here.
I do admire the thought of Reballs but to even use the tracerzone link is short sighted as very recently the goverment here kinda decriminalised cannabis and a guy opened a cafe like you get in Holland and thought he would be ok...well the police discovered it and shut him down, right now the tracerzone guys are under the radar, this won't continue.
It would be great if we could use Reballs without any fear of prosecution but we currently can't as no one knows for sure and I don't want to be the first person to get my collar felt not do I want to be the person that got paintball banned/licenced in the UK. What is legal in one country is not always the same in another there are many examples of this but a very recent case in the UK concerning the bush called Cat, Chat (sp?) perfectly legal here but take it to America and it is classed as the same as heroin etc. I think it was Skeetmaster who elsewhere was talking about the Prometheus Air pellet that got that treatment...it had a good run but now is a no no. Due to the last round of kneejerk reactions from our goverment our Olympic shoot team have to practise on the continent due to their specialized pistols being illegal in the UK. A similar situation was in force in one of the Scandinavian countrys due to semi auto being illegal and there was a paintball team that had to store their semi's over the border to avoid problems. This situation may now be resolved but it makes for a scary situation. So to finish up, Magued the burden of proof of legality is down to you not us here. Not an attack but just a sensible way of looking at things.

Mark,

Rubbish, I drive a car that is capable of speeds in excess of 160 mph, are you telling me that Honda should never have sold it to me????

Poo to that argument.

If people want to use Reball to practice and use it sensible, chances are it will remain under the radar, and what the eye doesn't see the heart doesn't grieve.

Now if only the two cozzers on the M25. were looking the other way....

Existing products, not new so that doesn't hold water as a comeback, the laws are set in this country if you exceed the limit then you get done simple....this country doesn't want Guns full stop in this country and if the goverment gets the chance to classify Paintball markers as Guns then they will, also from that definition use a Reball and what is your paintball "marker" now doing? Sure as hell isn't marking anything, hitting yes but marking ?

Marker? The letter from the firearms officer states 'Paintball gun' - so it's doing what all guns do, shooting things.

Mark, and your argument doesn't hold water either, if the government wants to classify markers as guns, they will do, they don't need any convenient opportunity to do it.
And 'marker' is just a convenient euphamism we use in our sport for obvious reasons, it is not a definition, do we now get rid of potato guns, water guns etc ?

:)

There ya go, used something that turned out was illegal, that was the point I was making ;)

Duffistuta, It is wording that makes or breaks the whole issue of the legalitity of Paintball in the UK, kinda like being in the dock and being forced to answer "yes" or "no", when the answer you want to use is "yes, but"
