So what would you say if you knew that a company within the paintball industry had approached the Millennium Series and offered to cover the costs of getting a Millennium Series Webcast up and running only to recieve a "thanks but no thanks" reply????

I only found out about it this weekend whilst i was in Boston, but suffice to say i'm pretty shocked to hear about the MS Committees decision on this one, even taking into account decisions made in the past.......
If that story is true - I am in shock!

Seriously Nicky, you need to tell the full story here - because there is no doubt this will be a topic at the captains meeting on thursday - and obviously, people need to be as informed as possible

is would be excellent to do but to be honest i doubt that it would work.

the nppl is filmed on one field (the nppl ''center court'' field) to which our equivalent would be the CPL field. now not every team plays on that field where as there are always games on the nppl field thus making the American web cast good to watch.

from my point of view they would have to have cameras on 2 maybe 3 fields to make it as good as the American web cast.

on a last note the millenium commitee probably dont want the rest of the world to see just how mediocre the millennium series is(I'm only judging from the experience Ive had)

Once i speak to the company involved and if they give their permission, i will happily tell the full story....

....it's safe to say that no amount of discussion at the captains meeting is unlikely to change anything though

but if it was an outside company covering it then why not? SOunds like a great idea, i'm sure there would be problems but thats a given. At the very least I would have thought they woul give it a proper answer, or maybe they want an pile of cash for the webcast to be allowed?

I would really like to know the ins and outs of this one... on the surface, it seems unbelieveable that the Millennium would turn such publicity down! There's more to the story I'm sure (no company would put up the cash for this without wanting something in return), but that is a wasted opportunity for the Millennium and its competing teams.

I agree - which is why I want the full story also :)

I would suspect they also asked for the rights to on-field advertising, or something similar ;)

Also - I am sure Pete is just sitting there waiting to press the little green button on his phone, to call up Barry, once normal business hours has elapsed today ;)

the millennium probably want to charge for press access to the fields,

they would see they are providing a service by giving access and want the company to pay rather than the company providing a service for free.

it's the millennium so it's bound to come down to money!

Nick, in the end, I just despair sometimes, I really do and I am soooooo glad I don't have to deal with them like I used to have to.

Nicky actually called me today to tell me about it all and I was aghast but when the shock subsided I was just left with that resigned feeling that generally accompanies such Millennium revelations.

You can take a horse to water but you can't make it drink - and it really is as simple as that

I will call Barry and see what he has to say to be fair and post his reply up here ... I hope he has a good reason ......
