wee bit harsh there, have you shot one?
I think you'll find the hop-up barrel gives extra range without the drawbacks of the flatline
-you dont need to hold it level to stop shots curving left/right
-not as harsh on paint

They are quite accurate at range
As with any marker, look after it properly and it wont break down (although it can happen to any marker by freak chance)

And if you're not into milsim, armotech sell ions :p

I dont shoot armotech because it isnt my thing- but I wouldnt write their markers off

One thing, is that people often perceive themselves as being outranged when they really aren't.

Remember, your balls are reducing in size, so trying to see a ball that's 30m away, in a wood etc means you often lose it in the bush and think it's not going near them. Their paint on the other hand is coming towards you and getting bigger, so you are more likely to notice it and go "feck, better hide".

Easy way to see is aim at a tree above their heads, see the paint break on the tree then walk the paint down into their bunker.

Also, keep playing, you'll get used to how far you can actually shoot effectively with more experience, but don't get hung up on range, in practice I'd bet you were shooting the same (assuming they kept to 300 fps limit and didn't use a flatline)
