Kardasz (Re marker in school)

Your reply reminds me of the time when i was at college. My mate wanted to go to the bank so, myself and another mate tagged along, now we parked around the corner from the bank and my mate paul got out and went in leaving myself and lee in the car. In the back of the car was a plastic gun belonging to his nephew, you know the sort i mean where you pull the trigger and it makes a rat a tat noise. while we were fooling around with it a woman walked past and as my friend later told us. She dashed onto the bank telling them there were two men sitting in a car outside brandishing a gun and that the bank was about to be robbed.
now you may think no harm was done as the gun was quite obviously a childs toy but when you are dragged from a car that is surrounded by police thrown to the ground spreadeagled and told that you were nearly wasted cos the armed responce unit had been mobilised i can assure you that quite possibly a lot of harm could have been done, as it was, a change of underware was all that was needed, so please lets not trivialise any sort of reaction that is taken over the use of firearms replica, paintball, bb or other, lets not forget what happened in germany just recently, where a student wasted teachers and kids alike.

A paintball marker is classed as a gun by the government, only people who play it in tourneys know this but people dont need that to make em realise its a gun.

People over-react and squeel like no tommorrow when they see a nice, looking gun or they hear that you have one in ur bag, and thats what got u attention.
Really you shoulda lied, but instead you said it was your paintball marker,LOL...muppet :D.

And as for those poncing pussies on the train thinking x-fire is the new rave in the Pballin world, (but they know crap all about it)show em the PUSH vid/dvd and if they still think that x-fire is the best in PBall then they are reasonable sad, if you play em in any pballin games tell me i would love to come spank their wise asses.

Ask em this....Have they ever been mugged?

I think we are getting off track he

I think Cowboy know better now, taking his gun to school.

But he has brought up a good question (publics views of paintball on TV). I think we will see a trend of people thinking paintball is like this x-fire program. We all know is not totally correct, the nearest thing to this x-fire program is the rec type games.

Now before all the rec-ball players start on me, im only generalising regarding this matter.

I think we need to get UKPSF to make the program makes to put some sort of disclaimer, declaring that not all paintball is like this.

there was a lad on the bus going into college carry a replica of an AK47 i think it was, not in a bag or anything it was for his drama play or summat most people turned a blind eye except for some old biddy who phoned the police and low and behold the armed response unit turned up at college, ufortunately this was a couple of months before i arrived as i would have told em that he has planted c4 around the buildings, and will blow them up if his demands were not met

As for that old biddy once they had let you go you should have run after her firing youre gun in the air shouting areba, the old lady distracting the armed response could have been a ploy so that she could go and hold up the bank herself,

what happend to her and did she get a medal for being stupid

I think the two seperate points raised in this thread are very closely connected. Obviously, the media has a huge impact on how any sport is portrayed and whether we like it or not, our sport can be easilly shown in a bad light. But, we as players of this sport, have a responsibility to be good ambassadors for it and again, whether we like it or not, we can easilly show ourselves in a bad light.

Why? Well, it doesn't matter how responsible we are or that we know that a marker when not gassed and without a barrel and hopper is completely harmless. We've got to keep in mind that the average Jo on the street (or teacher at a school) knows neither of these things. Imagine that poor teacher's reaction when see discovered (what to her is) a gun in a student's bag - she's repsonsible for the safety of everyone in her class and there have been more than enough horror stories to justify her sh*ting her pants!

I don't want to single this incident out, it is simply a readily available example. No harm was meant - that is obvious. But my point is that just because we mean no harm doesn't mean it wont be done. It is all of our responsibility to keep markers away from public places and out of public view. Sounds paranoid? Why should we hide our Sport? I'm not saying that. Wear a paintball t-shirt, shout your mouth off about our sport, show your mates your magazines and vids - just keep that marker (which is a gun to everyone who doesn't play 'ball) out of public reach or sight.

As for X-Fire - well, it's bollocks to us 'ballers and we don't like our sport portrayed that way. However, it's up to the players and members of the industry to get our sport shown the way we want it to be. X-Ball is a big step in the right direction - just hope it works. Maybe the sport will one day be called X-Ball or something and not Paintball - Paintball will be something that a bunch of mates do at the weekend, not a sport.
