I was the train today coming home from skipping school to drink when i overheared a convo that some of the younger members of my school were having.

One of them had a BB gun and was waving it around the train showing off and the rest were captivated. This annoyed me because i had my cocker taken from me for three weeks at school cos my form teacher thought it was a deadly weapon.........AND IT NEVER EVEN CAME OUT OF THE BAG!!!!!!!! (was lending it to a friend)

but anyway he was going on about his BB gun was not legal cos it shot too fast etc. etc. so i asked him how fast exactly it shot but one of the people in the group said, "hey chris, just cos you play paintball".

At this point the whole group (7 ish boys of 13-14) turned and were very intrested, one said, and i quote

"do you like that crossfire program on tv, its so cool, its well better than that mission paintball on on bravo".

(See, i got to the point) i sat there for a while and looked at him in some disbelief, before giving my opinion of crossfire and how MP was so much closer to tournament paintball etc. Yet they didnt seem to be intrested and decided i didnt like crossfire because "i wasnt good enough to get on it" at which point i had a rant about exactly how good i was and so it went on.

But my point is this, from this experience itmakes me ask if the public would like tournament paintball. granted that MP is not tournament paintball but it is close. Real teams with their own gear and playing in open spaces wiht clear bunkers. Is crossfire the only paintball on TV which people will want to watch?????????????????????????????:(

1 thing u got to keep in mind tho, x fire was made for the general public for entertainment, and mission paintball is made for us ballers,

x fire is like a arnie kind of programme, big ppl with corny accent in kaked suits, its is designed for the average family to sit down and watch for entertainment, cos u must admit, it is funny to us tourne ballers, but if u never played/looked at paintball before, u would like the show like i did when it first came out, but then grown to dislike it when i grew into tournement ball.

but mission paintball has real tourne players, banzia, campaign power etc. it doesnt have made up ppl faking there acting.

its like war drama, realism/entertainment, saving private ryan is a realistic film, but not for the average person to watch,

mission paintball-- realism of what we tourne players do,

x-fire is for the general public, mission paintball r for paintballers.

thats my view, neway p8ntball2k, why the hell u taking ur gun into school:):) even lending it to ur m8 thats worse:)

ok, i thought that may raise a few eyebrows so i'll explain. My friend and i started playing at the same time when we wre 11. we also boughtnour first guns (spyder 1's) together. I moved up in the world and he kinda stayed where he was. However he loves paintball and was going to play and asked if he could borrow my gun. now i trust him totaly and knew that he too would be careful about taking it someware public as people tend to get the wrong impression.

So i had it in a bag, with the barrel in the frount pocket. nothing else, no gas, loader or balls. i was sitting at my desk at the start of the last day of term with it (this day was a half day and i decided this would be better because it would reduce the time i was carrying it around. So somebody said "whats in the bag" i said "my paintball marker" they said "lets see" i said "no".

this causesed other people to want to see and the teacher wanted to know what all the noise was about. she said "whats in the bag" i said "miss its my paintball marker, im lending it to somebody and everybpdy is messing around, its not my fault"

so of course she wanted to know exactly what was going on so she made me open my bag and then she got all cross like how could you bring that, she took it and i got it back actualy four weeks later............missing two tournaments.

some people may still say i was stupid for taking it to school, but it was the only way to lend it to my best friend as i live miles and miles away and i am 100% confident in my actions that i did nothing wrong, this also worries me about the public perseption of the sport...................and that may be it, we say sport but thats not what everybody else thinks.

School is silly due to the unpredicable nature of kids and the possibly gun fearing nature of some teachers. If you are going to take a gun to school you should ask permission from the headmaster and be prepared to have it locked in a safe for the day.
I have taken my guns to campus before when I did a seminar on how they work (seminar on any tech subject, you'd guess i'd do that), just asked permission from the head of department. Had a bit of fuss though when the housekeeper saw my gun in my uni room, fortunately PGI and the push trailer saved me.

Do they teach you all about the different types of rope you can use and the best way to jump?;)

My wife is a teacher, and if she had confiscated your marker and held it for 4 weeks............................ Well put it this way, have a good look to see if it's been used a lot!!!!

I can understand that you should feel upset about having your marker confiscated when you took it to school, but just think of the implications. I work in a school and before you jump to any conclusions no, i'm not a teacher, but there is no way i would ever take my marker to school, it's all too easy for some people to get excited at the thought of anything slightly resembling a gun. When you took it to school you ought to have asked one of the teachers ( somone you get on with ) if they could perhaps keep it safe for you untill the end of the day. problem solved.

the way i see it is that x-fire although its paintball(cringe) and its on telly which is good to see it couldnt be further from the truth

i mean i bet the punters turn up to the site where i marshall and think i cant wait to play put on that kevlar blast shield protective armour, suppa wuppa night vision auto targetting goggles and the m16 procarbine assault cannon paintball pulse riffle its gonna be awsome - yeah emulsified.

ok sorry to shatter your dreams guys but you will be wearing an NBC suit that have been worn by thousands of people, youll be wearing a scott mask(probably give em the oldest one i can find that the local paintball cat uses as a potty)but i suppose the good news is that we do have the m16 procarbine assault cannon paintball pulse riffle(thats what i call tippmann 98's) and any of you shout emulsified and i will get gogger to stamp on youre head.

anyway chris take no notice of those chumps on the train, when they finally get the balls to play paintball hopefully you can show em what its about - as for taking your gun into school, F**K it if its no danger to anyone then i dont see what the problem is, i mean there are probably people in your school that bring in far more dangerous things in like chainsaws and wot not, however it is clear that you have been made an example of, so know you make sure that if some muppet has got for example a BB gun keep pestering him to see it in the middle of class, after all they are far more dangerous than paintball markers.

Alex youre in uni - are you allowed to take youre marker into the halls with you.

Officially no, classed as an air gun so should be kept in the uni armoury. However I have got away with it. No one checks, as I said once the house keeper saw it but let me of as I explained I needed it in my room to clean it and repair etc showed her PGI and a vid and she let it go. So if the rules say no they it's going to depend on the discression of your accomodation staff or just keeping it under wraps. The Durham guys all got away with having guns in their rooms in the 1st year too.
