I spoke to Pete Montero today, Infinity was NOT a part of the 'goings-on' at PSP Texas. They were staying at the same hotel that the vadalism occured, and were painted with the same brush, simply because of where they were staying.

Their names have since been removed from the PSP website and from PBN.

It's a good point...if Colchester United suddenly discover £50 million, they can buy top class players to play their way out of Div.2 and up towards the Premiership, why shouldn't Paintball teams be allowed to do the same?

And what about aging Pros? A lot of great footballers play the twilight of their careers in the lower divisions, why can't Paintballers?
It's a poor analogy. Div.2 is a minor league of a pro circuit. The people who play on those teams are full-time athletes.

PSP D3 XBall is a newbie division. The only reason it exists is for 1st year participation. If you're going to let anyone play in it, then you just get rid of it and make them play D2.

Paintball divisions also don't have the same economic forces at work. In Pro football, salaries naturally determine where the best players play; top teams have more money to hire better players and better players demand more money, so the better players end up at the top.

Once you get out of Pro in paintball, that "financial sort" isn't there. Instead of making MORE money by playing up, better players can often make more money by playing DOWN. When that's the case, you need rules to keep the better players from all playing in your lowest division because it's their best shot at winning money.

Yeah that's what I meant to say :D
or to a lesser extent in this country, some teams constantly play in a div below their abilities, or manipulate the scoreboard so that they don't go up a division. another analogy is like DV8 playing in Div 3, not fair (DV8 don't sandbag, not what I'm saying ;))

Good point about the cup tied, I'd forgotten about that, but in paintball wouldn't this more equate to an individual tournament?

EG a div three team that makes it to the Sunday club couldn't then suddenly be full of pros who didn't make it to their Sunday club.

However, a div three captain who suddenly wins the lottery, and can afford to pay some pros from the lower end of the pro div should be allowed to sign them up for the next tourney/remainder of the series.

I will hold up my hand and say I have no idea exactly what happened with Team Clutch, but it sounds more along the lines of the second scenario, rather than the first one, so I say more power to them.

I played on Clutch, and it's not any of those scenario's. It was a throw together team, so not everyone knew everyone. They were short on player's so 1 guy came up with fake id and played under a different name. There were different level's of awareness that's why the different level's of punishment.
