Back to the debate....... I played lost planet constantly on my 360, loved it, totally addicted to it.
I haven't plugged the machine in since I got resistance fall of man on the PS3.
It's absolutely superb.... and 40 player no lag online play. Still unsure how they are managing it, but they are. Haven't played a game this much since Battlefield Vietnam....... and I had that rigged up to my projector (although mainly I played it so I could play music at the Viet Con from my helicopter).

Actually, there's a good way to settle this......... poll those players who actually own one of each. That makes it fair. Still pretty sure you'll get a massive split due to personal preference.
Although 'it's cheaper' isn't the argument of a console owner, it's the argument of a console owners Dad who wouldn't buy him the one he really wanted :)

From what i have seen the ps3 and xbox360 are equally as good . just because the ps3 has blueray isnt a selling point for me as i think it will go the way of the minidisc. i own a 360 and am soon to get a ps3 although it is overpriced IMO. ps3 does have some amazing games coming out and so does the 360 if you like shooters as i do then you all gonna be in heaven this next year if you own both of these machines as you have the HALO series being continued on 360 you also have the new Killzone on ps3 which looks mint i have to say.

i am yet to see the 360 or ps3 do anything graphically that the other cannot handle.
The 360 does have a better online community and will soon get better as they are merging it with the pc users community very soon.

SONY`s online service does look like it could be good so long as they dont get bored with it and abandon it we will see.

As far as which is the best machine there isnt one they just the same machine in a different body thats all as they can both do the same things.
ok you got blueray but as i said earlier dont think its gonna be round for long so dont get too excited over that.

Point is, thousands of people already have a blue ray disc player now. How many have gone out to get a HD DVD?
Blue ray has a head start and a big backer.

Why is the IPOD the most popular MP3 player? It's not the best available, it's just the one with the push behind it (I've got one, purely for Itunes).

BLue Ray and HD DVD are very similar in spec. But if I was a warner brothers exec deciding what format to release, bottom line would be which I'd sell most of.
Currently that's one blue ray for every PS3 out there or seven HD DVD's as I believe that's how many players actually exist :)
Look at it another way...... HD DVD stand alone player £400 +
Blue Ray is the same and has a free PS3 attached.

Good points Jose, but you alos have to look at the high production cost of the Bluray discs, as opposed to the HD-DVD, and the fact that the bluray has a high fail rate on burning at the moment, and they can not get the full capactity boasted by the discs due to copying issues :)

It does remind me of the beta-v-vhs scenario though, and often numbers for outweighs actual performance when it comes to what is succesful :)

Reading one of your earlier posts jose, I'm quiet concerned that you actually teach alot of ICT and yet you buy a dell  and you cant put a computer together without a "nagging doubt".
I had barely any ICT knowledge atall and built myself a pc with a simple guide off the internet and the various manuals that came with the components. I now have a pretty good gaming pc for £700 of which I have had no problems with except a couple of minor vista related software glitches.

Anyway... Pc's are best for gaming :D 64 players on battlefield 2 no lag and a mouse in hand, not one of them fiddly innacurate spasticated nubbins that they call thumb sticks... heathens

See, same thing again, I need my PC to work, I need someone to be accountable for my PC working, I can't do without it.
If I build my own and it fails I have to repair it at my own cost or at least waste time finding out what has gone wrong...... if I buy it from Dell and something goes wrong they replace it.

Also, the day I waste looking for the 'best price' and then the half day I'll spend putting it together and installing software is gone, I'm not interested in saving a few hundred quid doing all that donkey work. It may be worth it to you, but not to me.

So, read my posts, I don't have a nagging doubt about assembling a PC, a monkey could do it. I just don't want to. The nagging down is if something does go wrong (failed hard drive etc...) then I'm without a PC until I sort it myself. Frankly, an extra few hundred quid to not have to think about it is worth it.
Do you drive, bus or get trains? It's so much cheaper to walk..... but in spending a bit of money you get some time back.
Maybe if putting a days work into getting a cheaper PC was worth my time I'd feel different, but it's not.

Look at it this way, if your £700 gaming PC packs up, what can you do about it? Each component is covered if it fails, but not for anything else it takes out with it. I pay a company for a PC because if it goes belly up I get a new one and it's sorted out for me.
It's my choice, so don't criticise that. I don't have a go at you for assembling your own do I? I just value my free time more. I'm getting a decent one for £900, don't need a monitor as I've already got a 40" for it and a projector, as for top end gaming, I've lost interest since the PS3 and 360, they do me fine and are a lot more social. I think I spend enough time typing for work. Don't need a free printer as I've allready got a colour laser.

Think about all of the things you pay someone else to do and all of the things you could save money on before you have a go at me. 'Quite concerned' my arse.
