You should never be charged for a temporary export/import. In terms of documentation all you need at best is an invoice comfirming that it is temporary, and that the item/s already belong to you. If they still want to try charging you, tell them to call the company/person who sent it back to you for confirmation.

Regardless of when, the point is you don't get charged twice on VAT and import if you have to send the marker out of the country. That's just a fact. :)

I personally would never buy a marker from overseas.......

As Paul has already said, he won't entertain markers that were not purchased from the UK. If I were in his shoes, then I would have the same policy.

Accessories, like barrels, loaders, etc is fine though....... what can possibly go wrong with a barrel???

One of the guys on our team purchases quite a lot of stuff from the US. He's convinced he's saving money. How much is debateable, by the time you take out the hassle.

Last thing he bought was his Halo. Bought it for about £20 cheaper than over here, then Planet went and dropped the price on them. By the time he'd paid the duty on it, it worked out cheaper to buy it over here.

Yes, don't get me wrong, there are very few instances when you can save much money, especially considering the hassle.

However, in the case of Neill who is after a timmy I think he could save a quid or two. There are few dealers who deal in timmy's in the UK and I always think they are very expensive, perhaps why timmy's have such a low uptake in the UK.

Benfrain,

What extra hassle is it? Ordering off one website is the same as ordering off another right?

From what i've been told the USD$ looks like it'll be getting weaker. Weaker doller cheaper prices...

Short term savings long term loss.

The more people buy from UK traders the more these traders can grow. The bigger the traders get over here the more likely it is that they'll be able to offer better sponsorship packages etc.
on the flip side the more people who buy from the US the less UK companies will grow, buying power decreases as does bulk buying. the result less UK shops, higher prices.

BUY UK!!

Paul,

I appreciate what you are saying, I even agree with you in the bigger picture. However, on a personal level if i'm in the market for a new piece of kit, i'm going to go directly to the cheapest source. If that souce happens to be in the US then so be it. Does anybody really want to pay extra, for the slim chance of gaining worthwhile sponsorhip from a local dealer?
